Trying go figure cars worth - 83 GSL with 46k original miles

I got a grey 83 GSL with ~46k on it. The cars in great shape. Always garage kept. All original minus the cats (starting and not driving it killed the original). It's in great shape. Only needs top of door panels fixed, one small dent in extreme bottom of the passenger door that was a victim of a marital dispute. Has glass top and original metal one. Hell even the tape deck works. No rust etc etc So looking at nada classic says high retail $5k. But if you look at 81 model it's $9k average and $15k high retail. Basically anything 81 down says that. Is it because an 83 is not old enough yet? I'm kicking around the idea of selling all my cars and all my parts for a fair value but I'm trying to figure what that value is.

I got a 1990 convertible in great shape. 98k Miles. And a 83 gs with sunroof with a 13b transplanted. Running car. All the motor wiring is done. Runs great. Just a project I got tired and too lazy to finish. Plus thousands in parts. Carbs. Engines laying around. Transmissions. Ground effect kits etc.

SAs (78,79,80) are definitely more valueable depending condition. Those retail values you quote
are very optimistic. A cherry SA may bring you 10K unless its a special edition which may get
you a bit more.

FBs 12As (81-85) In very fine condition may bring 4 -5K but usually run around 3K for condition
like yours.

GSL-LE (84-85) In very fine condition can probably get you 7 - 8K I would bet.

Theres approximately 300,000 1st gen rx7s that were sold, most in the states. Of those about 10K are the 78 model year and the rest sold about 50K per year until 86.

Watched 3 in last few weeks on eBay bring in the $6,000 range.

I'm was thinking $11k is fair for all 3 cars plus all the parts. Total clean out.

Post it for 11 and write down "taking all offers"

Or don't post a price at all, and see what you get. I'd probably do this if I wanted to sell a car I was unsure of the value.

I honesty don't need the money just trying to declutter my life. As I get older I find myself with way too much stuff. I think I'll never see a piece of Japanese steel ever being worth more than it is now. Even an extremely excellent rust free example as these 2 cars are. But they aren't camaros chargers etc. Try finding a quarter panel a rocker or floor pan for these cars. Shit you can't even find trim parts reasonably anymore. It just doesn't have the following. Hell even the manufacturer gives a shit less. No aftermarket panels. No aftermarket restoration parts. Not a damn thing. They don't even supply rotary parts anymore. Rotor housings? Forget it. Anything is now new old stock or nothing. We are stuck grasping at the scraps left over from days gone by. I have thousands in dollars worth of parts and as they have done. I'm cashing out. $10k and something can have it all. And I have a shitload of stuff.

That sounds like a pretty good deal if i read that correctly (all for 11k)....just need to find the right guy with enough space.....

I agree somewhat. That's why I went air cooled. Parts by the bucket load, people can associate with it, and super reliable. That's why I sold my SA's. My SA's just didn't have that sparkle, and it was too much work to make them really shine.

BUT I do love the rotary car I have. I don't think I'll get rid of it ever. Its unique in a special way. And tossing a rotary in some other car (a VW) just wouldn't feel right.

And for part support.... That's why you are supposed to DRIVE THE PISS OUT OF YOUR CARS!!!! Run them till they bust then put new parts in and repeat. They won't make the parts forever. Low miles means the car wasn't enjoyed as the engineers intended. Na, Jap cars won't "enrich" as a Porsche will; they are 100% designed to be enjoyed and used up. So get out there tear the road up and use all the good parts while they last.

10K seems like an awful lot though. Mostly because you are selling to an audience that is "taking scraps". Most prospective FB buyers are looking for a car that is gonna be beat. SA's might have a nostalgia thing going on, but FB's are for the most part beat'em up cars. Automatic kinda kills it too.

this is usually the issue.

Ill try the FB first up on Craigslist or eBay. Then the FC vert. I'll drop most the parts that worth something on the classified section. Sell what's worth something and scrap the rest.
