transmission bolts

its my first time dropping the tranny to change the clutch - and i don't want to take anything extra apart -

at the bell housing - there are 2 bolts for the starter, one long bolt next to the starter, and a short bolt on the bottom - right hand side.

How many bolts are left and where are they?

thanks

3 more bolts on the remaining "corners" of the engine.

Ians

So there are a total of 6 bolts to remove the tranny from the engine? (6 total - including the 2 for the starter?)

do you have to get the two top bolts from under the hood (i'm working with floor jacks and just enough room to crawl under - its tough to get up there and poke around)

When you take the starter off, there will also be another bolt behind it near the lower bolt of the starter. 7 bolts would sound correct.

Top Driver side you have to pull, the one on the passenger side just holds the ear on the engine and does not thread into the trans.

If you have the rats nest removed, the top right bolt is easier to break loose from the top. It'a an odd one, it threads from the front and has a nut of the back. The end of the bolt is slotted for a screw driver. A straight stubby works some times.

Mark the bolt that is behind the starter. It is the only one in the entire car that has that diameter and thread pitch. It will start in any of the other holes, then proceed to strip out the threads of the rear iron.

i still have the rats nest crap in there - and i cant readily see the top bolts.
