trans should not make that noise im sure

Ok guys anyone out there have any ideas? Im driving an 85 gs and anytime i get on it hard it has a significant crunchy sound when i shift hard into second gear. Im guessing the sinchros (excuse my crappy spelling) are on the way out. I can shift any other gear as hard as i want. does anyone know if i can get a transmission from a 87 n/a to replace mine to fit in there? do i need any special bellhousing or what it would take to hook up? Any help would be greatly appreciated! i think i have the skills to replace a trans but the idea of rebuilding the one i got seems to be a it over my head. Thanks a lot in advance.

Double clutch and rev match to get you by for the mean time...

NOTE: The following are hypothetical numbers. YMMV... It's just an example.

What I mean is say you're downshifting from 3rd to 2nd... Say you're going maybe 35 MPH... You're at 3000 RPM's in 3rd gear, and you know it'll be like 4500 RPM in 2nd gear...

Clutch down, shift to neutral... Clutch UP... tap the gas to get you to 4500 RPM, Clutch down... SHift to 2nd, Clutch up. Gas down to accelerate or gas up to engine brake.

Practice it to get it in one quick motion.

Also a change in tranny oil might help you get by for a little while too. Some people suggest that.

I have 4 transmissions for sale...... two (2) 2nd gen's/non Turbo.... one (1) 84 12A and one (1) gsl-se.

Currently driving my 84 12A Turbo with a 1990 Tranny (It fits perfect)

T II Tranny will not fit unless you change/modified the clutch, counter weight and other stuff....

If interested.... act quick.... Im leaving to IRAQ in OCT.

Price: 2nd gen.... 250 + shipping
84 12A 150 + shipping
84 13B 75 + shipping ( making minor noise but still shifts)

Take PAYPAL, WESTERN UNION or Money Order/ cashier check.

Thanks for the info guys! So the bellhousing from the 87 will work then? Appreciate the offers for trasmissions but i found an 87 for 100 bucks for the whole car. So could i just get ahold of an se crossmember and make that work or what kind of fabbing will need to be done? will the driveshaft need to be replaced or any other surprises i should expect?
