Tour De France, day by day

hey guys
i'm not sure who really cares here, but i'm a big tour freak. Lance Armstrong is my hero. Anyways, I'll give a little day by day update for you guys who can't get around to watching the tour.

Prologue... Lance is 2nd. No big boys near him. yay!

kiker14 07-03-04 07:38 PM

hey man, i'm all up for lance and really hope he gets the 6th(!!!!!) straight win, but I think this should be in the lounge...

do the mods agree with me? only time will tell.

Sparky69 07-03-04 08:20 PM

time will tell.......

jimmyjoejoe 07-03-04 08:50 PM

maybe, sorry bout that... i'm just here all the time

tjgosurf 07-03-04 11:38 PM

Lance is the fucking man. I am working to be in the shape that he is in. I read an article about his heartbeat is 32 bpm.

Jeff20B 07-03-04 11:41 PM

That's a low idle! Man, if I got that low, I'd brap a lot. :)

tjgosurf 07-03-04 11:42 PM

the person who wrote the article tittled it:

"Is Lance Armstrong superman?"

ha ha, good call, but just to make it a bit more related to 1st gens... i love my gsl-se more than subaru wrx's that lance is always advertising ;) although he really is superman.

Why in the world would subaru, a japanese company, use an American CYCLEST (not even a motorsport) who runs in a french race to advertise their cars? I would much rather see Solberg on my tv any day.

But I do have great respect for Lance. Just not a cycling fan.

because MOST people (at least in the US) probably don't know who solberg is. but EVERYBODY knows who lance armstrong is. Armstrong has much more of a celebrity status, and celebrity's sell. simple as that. (thank you marketing 211) ;)

Well they should, and subaru could easily use those marketing dollars to tell them. :p:

tjgosurf 07-04-04 04:26 PM

Lance cannot convince me to buy a WRX. Unless he gives me his, then i would take it.

kleinke 07-04-04 05:17 PM

Which Solberg?

Magnar Solberg is better known than Petter to some people for his Olympic gold medals in 1968 and 1972. (He is the only biathlete in Olympic history to successfully defend his title in an individual event. He also holds the Winter Olympics record as the oldest gold medalist in an individual event.)

today's stage was liege-charleroi, lance comes in 3rd 10 seconds back. hell yeah. ullrich is nowhere to be seen, but jens voigt is a few seconds behind. starting out good for our boy

it'll get good next week in the mountains. July 21 is the big day, there's going to be a time trial (lance's best event) on the l'alpe-d'huez - the tour's toughest mountain. people have actually died riding to the top of it. the climb is 3,300 feet or so within 10 miles. some of our cars wouldn't make it.

jimmyjoejoe 07-05-04 02:24 AM

it's nice to see people taking an interest in our boy overseas. cheer for him.

Look at all the support vehicals following Lance..........The US Postal team has all Subarus.......

Its there way of driving their cars all through France and on TV everyday.........

What a huge marketing Triumph for Subaru.........

Lance is the Man.......and he drives a Subaru........

He makes millions with that contract.........And Subaru hopes that you will want the same.........

Have you seen all the new Nike comercials with Lance.......Awesome.............And more money...........

jimmyjoejoe 07-05-04 11:14 PM

today - stage 2... armstrong is 4th, 18 seconds behind... almost got killed in a big crash.

too bad US postal doesn't drive rx8's, huh?
could you imagine the sales boosts?
maybe then we'd get our remake of the RX3. :)

keep dreaming, chris

85rotarypower 07-05-04 11:23 PM

I believe their talking about Petter Solberg for his rally career with Subaru. He races in the WRC and one other organization I think. Really a great driver too. One of my idols. But I'm partial to Subaru too so...

stilettoman 07-05-04 11:49 PM

Hey, my mail is delivered by a mailperson driving a RHD Subaru.

I think Lance is awesome, and we as Americans should all be proud of him. For selling me a Subaru, no one can touch that Aussie guy Hogan.

rx7anator 07-06-04 12:04 AM

to bad Lance doesnt even drive a subaru...

jimmyjoejoe 07-06-04 12:07 AM

but he drives them in all his commercials!!! what do you mean celebrity endorsements aren't nessicarily true??? :)

i bet he gets them handed to him, though. would you drive it if you got it for free? i don't think i'd drive a few things even if i got paid for it. although, everyone has their limit.

rx7anator 07-06-04 12:10 AM

pish the only time i get to drive a WRX is when my bro passes out and leaves his keys out in the open....:-) its an '04 with hks bov, turbo back exhaust (3 in.) and lowered 2 inches. thats one fun car to drive...especially around a corner
