Tired of that yellow spot over your tailpipe?

Can't wash the car because of water restrictions?

No problem. Wet a paper towel with alcohol (I used ethanol but isopropyl will do) and it disappears like magic, no muss, no fuss.

I use a mild rubbing compound.....works well too

Zymol cleaner wax ftw

Seriously though, a little bit of

worked for me, though it ate all of the wax off of the area I was cleaning.

Try Rotaflow (or Rotaflo).

"either one ruins your paint!"

Mr. Planet, I'm not speculating, this thread is based on actual experience. I have a white 84 GSL with a pristine original paint job that I take very good care of, thank you very much:

Here in Georgia we are in the middle of a 100 year drought and if we are going to be responsible citizens we can't wash our cars. My white car isn't that dirty, but it does build up that yellow spot every few weeks and then I usually spend quite a bit of time scrubbing it off with detergent and water.

This time, not wanting to use the water, I tried something else and it worked way better than anything I'd used before: Alcohol.

Now you folks can go out and spend good money on a jug of Formula 88, Zymol, or Rotaflow, I'm sure the manufacturer's will be happy.

But ya'll probably already have a $1.98 bottle of rubbing alcohol in your medicine chest - try it, it works like magic, the yellow melts away, no muss, no fuss.

twinkletoes 10-19-07 04:45 PM

Damn, that's clean. Thanks for the input, Ray, I have a white GSL-SE with a hideous yellow spot over the exhaust. What did you use for wiping? Paper towel, scour pad (those green dish scrubbing pads, not SOS pads) or terry cloth towel?

ray green 10-19-07 06:33 PM

Diapers 85, diapers.

Mazdax605 10-19-07 06:47 PM

My car doesn't have a yellow stain above the tailpipe. Oh wait yes it does, and I think it has spread.

81gen1 10-19-07 07:21 PM

what are you guys talking about?

twinkletoes 10-19-07 08:45 PM

you'll see it on most cars with exhaust work done...the black on the sti's and its yellow on my white gsl.. the exhaust is dirty, it turns your bumper a different color whenthe gases come out the muffler
