can anyone tell me what this part is? i found it sitting on outside on top of one of the fuel bays, looks like it snapped off something, but couldnt find anywhere that something had snapped off

It looks like one of the air filters from one of the Vacuum Relays on the "Rats Nest".

i think i know what youre talking about, how many are there? cuz i saw one on there, but it was connected to a metal tube, this one has a hard plastic tube that broke off with it, and i also couldnt find anywhere on there that it could go =/

well.. my ac worked last time i checked it O_o and i dont really use it much anyway, so im not too worried about it

No, they are all the same colour, the filters aren't coloured. YES this could be the cause of your idle problems. Look harder at your rat's nest.

really? O_o

well, i thought i knew what he was talking about, cuz my rats nest actually has lil colored stickers on em, white, blue, and forget the other, prolly red, dunno,

do you really think it could be the problem? maybe tomorrow ill take pictures of where i found it in my engine and such

Stevan 01-26-05 10:06 PM

I just looked at my rat nest (have it in my store room) it's an 85 though, 4 of the 6 solenoids have those, one has it on the back side. I didn't know they were filters.
Yeah, I was refering to the colored stickers.
Doesn't sound like it would cause a problem unless the hole it left became plugged.

On my 82 there are 4 of them. of the five Vaccum valves on the engine, The front 4 have the little Air filters. All the little Air filters point at the carb.
