thinking of selling the LS

the car is almost mint. a little rust on the body, none thats really noticible. thats it. NO wheel well or underbody rust WHATSOEVER! almost everything is original. the interior is PERFECT, with the execption of the wind deflector. the seats are MINT. this car is aweosme!!! it has 60K original miles. the a/c still works. the car is solar gold, which i am told was limited to 500 units on teh LS model. i am the second owner. i never thought it would come to this. what do you guys think would be a fair asking price?

Why would you want to get rid of her?

She looks great, and is a pretty rare model.

the car is located in vermilion ohio. i am thinking of getting rid of her because, i want to buy my first car back that my grandpa gave me. i sold the car because i was in a bind and i regret it. shortly after my grandpa gave me the car ( i was 16 am now turninh 24) he died of cancer. he basically was my dad while i was grwing up. i sold t to an older retired gentelman who spends his time restoring cars. i ran inot him the other day and he told me to stop by and see the car. that was it for me, i had to have it. he restored it adn its beautiful. i just dont think i could get enough out of my gsl-se and or conquest to pay for the car. so the LS i thought of.

the car is a 1963 ford falcon with a 170 I6 and a 3 on the tree!

not a really valuable car but one with sentimental value to me. i dont have another car that has the kind of value that one has to me and i own 7 cars.

I have some sentimental attachment to these cars as well. Not like your Falcon but there is something inherintly cool about driving something so old and so well preserved.

My GrandPa also Died of Cancer. Dad sold his 64 F100, to a family friend. it took me 5 years to get him to buy it back. It needs some work, and It will get it once I learn body work.

i totally understand. im glad you guys got the truck back. you should just start sanding on it and plugging away piece by piece.

Dave I happily paid $4K for my 80GS with 61K miles on it last year. (and off ebay yet!) And its not an LS! Frankly, the car was probably worth $3500 tops based on "the market".
But, really, just what "market" drives the price of a low-mileage 25 year-old sports car?? I mean, a new one (like a 350Z, etc) is going to set you back $30K. And a vintage car like an Austin Healy is just about the same price. You really can ask anything reasonable you want, since there is not much to compare it too. And most folks that want a nice sports car are not going to blink at $5K plus. That is like FREE compared to ANY new car (and I don't mean just sports cars).

Your target buyer should not be some high-schooler looking for a cheap ride, but old dorks like me (50) who always wanted a new RX7 when they first came out and was, well, almost a broke high-schooler (no intended disrepect to younger crowd on the forum! ;)
Guys like me are looking to buy-back some of the Good Old days and have the income to do it (OK, not 350Z income - but I wouldn't want one anyway;p ).
Add to the fact that clean original version SA RX7s are actually starting to increase in value by now, then combined your's mileage and rare options, I suggest $5500 is realistic. That is definitely where I would start if I were selling it.

If I wanted a second RX7 (which -don't tell my wife! - I do) I'd buy it in a heart beat! (and I also wouldn't be telling you to ask $5500 ;)
Sorry you have to sell it. I hope you will have the luxury if picking the right person to own this fine car.

stu, thank you for the info and the kind words. i was thinking of taking around that. i responded to a gentleman with a price and he never responded. and it was less than what you had suggested! not much though;) i do definatly want the car to go to someone who will appreciate it. age is not really a concern, though, it will most likely be a gentleman in his 30's-50's looking for a very nice example. now, if i could just get my conquest sold....

Good luck selling the LS, Dave. It sucks that you have to part with it, but its definatly for a good reason :) Dave is an awesome guy to buy from, just to let you know.. I'm restoring an 85 GS we got from him about a year ago.

Hades12 - START SANDING THAT THING STAT! I realize taht you may not be able to do all the work right now, but start sanding that thing now, and start getting primer on it (just use rattle can for now). You'll have to sand off the primer when you go to restore it, but at least you'll have preserved the body. Also, if you have the space, remove every panel/piece that you can remove, and make sure you sand/primer around the holes and corners, there's lots of rust that you can't see around thing like door handle holes and such. Start now, and you'll have most of the rust removed by the time you actually get to the restoration stage :)
