Are there any carb builders left out there?

So after a little searching, much frustration, and more desperation I've still failed to find anyone that rebuilds the stock nikki anymore. After a long while I'd finally decided on Sterling only to find that he had put a stop to order taking days before I'd decided. PB&J looked promising but I'm hearing that Carl is inactive and to my understanding Yaw is out of the game. So is there even anyone left out there that builds these things to a spec outside of the stock configuration? I'm just looking to flow a little more air here but I lack any kind of fine hand motion and patience to rebuild my own carb. Hope someone out there can help me out:scratch:

Oh believe me I saw that, I've been checking it every time I login lol. This isn't just for me though, its for anyone else that might be looking as well.

Not to bash your search ability, but this thread was only started 10 days ago...

Wow thats expensive. I remember Sterling doing rejetting and honing the venturies on top of their "SR" Nikki option for about half the price. Anyone have anymore?

and that is likely why the sterlings took 6+ months to get. as a profitable business with reasonable turnaround times you have to pay at least an average amount. that price doesn't sound unreasonable for the amount of work involved.

if you want to play you have to pay, otherwise stick with the stock rebuilt nikki for around $175-200.

unfortunately generally all good things do not last, even if you are paying through delay.

What prices are you looking at? Even back when Sterling introduced his carbs they were $350+... SR has similar pricing from what I see on their site

I am the owner of SR Race Engineering. Our pricing was specifically based off of Sterling's price list to offer a comparable product at a comparable price without the 6+ month turn around.

If you want, message me and tell me exactly what you want done. If it falls between one of our "packages" I would be happy to give you custom pricing based on your specific needs. My pricing also includes return shipping. :icon_tup:

That sounds fair, I did forget about the 6th month turn around on the sterlings. For those wondering I believe the last price i saw sterling list the sterling for was 275 but I might have seen that wrong, I was chopping my way through disabled site space after all. As for cobra ill probably shoot you a message either later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for all the help guys.

No problem, and there is a "back door" link to sterling's price page on the Sterling Nikki page. You can see for yourself that it's comparable to mine.

Whether you use me or someone else, let me know if I can help in any way with information.

275 for anything more than a rebuild would be giving it away. when I first started modifying nikki's i charged 200 for the first one then quickly realised there is way more work involved than what I had thought (my prices now are $450AU for extensive mods). Add up expenses (rebuild kit, cleaning products, an old carby, etc) and add labour for the rebuild and whatever mods are being done, you can't get out of it cheaply. SR's prices are very reasonable.

I don't remember sterling ever charging 275 but then again it's been quite a while. I bought one of his early ones and it was $350. Maybe 275 was for just a stock rebuild at that point??

I'm just crazy then, it was over a month ago that I saw that.

I paid Sterling over $500. My Nikki was to have all the cornering mods and the fancy look really good finish...and I never got it. Just saying. When I scrape up the current costs, I'll get one of these.

Stories like these make me cringe! I'm sorry to here that.

i do stock rebuilds mostly. this involves a complete disassembly, hot tanking, sonic cleaning and thorough inspection of all parts before assembly. the floats are adjusted to factory spec (there are two adjustments), the jets are removed, inspected, and sonic cleaned, the mixture screw is set to factory spec but you will have to adjust it again, to operation spec once the carb is back on the engine. you will also have to set your own preferred idle speed but a preliminary setting will be used. we remove all check balls and weights and ensure those passages are clean. i have not done any experimenting with re-jetting, or accelerator pump shimming and such but that is in the works.
