Hey guys i was wondering if any of you could help me out....The Tach on my car (1982 RX7 GS) just about an hour ago started bouncing about 1000-1500rpm up or down when i accelerate...dont know whats going on... its running fine..well from what i can hear but its just pissing me off.. any advice or preferably some way to fix it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

It may be your trailing ignitor is failing. When it goes out altogether, the tach won't work at all, but the car will still run pretty well, until the fuel pump quits.

Try swapping your ignitors. If the car then runs like shit and the tach works, than it's the ignitor. If there's no change, then it's either a dirty signal going to the tach or the tach itself.

or check your coil wires going to your coils. Mine was loose one day and did the same thing. it was dark out so luckly I saw the spark jumping.

And make sure you're even getting a spark one the secondary coil, that is the ignitor circut that drives the tach.

it'll start back up. New dizzy cap might fix it, but if it comes back again, worry about the dizzy itself.
