Definaty swap out the tailends... meaning put your 12A tailend on the TurboII transmission so the shifter falls in the right place otherwise it falls into a awkward spot and it'll bother you everytime you have to look at it... The boot doesn't sit right, it sometimes pops out of second and fourth from being crammed up unless you cut and trim plastics. Trust me been there.

Also the driveshaft is not that big of a deal if you take it to a driveshaft spot. Not the third guy who sends it out to send it out as your price gets jacked up along the way. I went directly to this local driveshaft spot and gave them the 12A driveshaft for length and rearend plate, and a TurboII driveshaft for the head. They should know better and automaticly give you greasable fittings and mock it up to the larger / TII shaft. Both orginal driveshafts came back to me intact as they only used them for references and my new driveshaft was 100% new. It cost under $200 but that was about 7 years ago.

The most expensive part I remember was getting a lightweight flywheel, but it's worth the $$$$.
