Swapping Instrument Cluster Guages

Just wondering if anyone has swapped their speedometer guage from a 79 model to a higher speedometer guage ?
I would love to put the 160mph guage in my instrument cluster but needing a little help on the swap:egrin:

Not scared to modify whatever to get this done!!!

Honestly... you probably could. The cluster can be broken down into separate gauges I haven't taken apart a gauge cluster from a 79 so I would not be able to tell you, but I assume you could.

I've always wanted to do this. Except I'd be swapping out my 85' gauges. I hate em'.

heres what im gonna try and do I got 2, 79 clusters 1 with a bad tach and the other one is perfect If I can get a donated cluster with a good speedometer I'll try and get it working in the bad cluster 1st. If it works I'll put it in the good cluster

Just need a donated cluster to get started and will document the whole process
to help other 7 owners do the same

Anyone got a 2nd gen 7 cluster they dont need? would be really helpful for a custom project that might help other 7 owners in the process?

I'm not sure about the earlier stuff.... but swapping the later higher mph speedo into my '82 just took some attention to detail and some soldering on the back.
