i am putting a cosmo engine in my 83 rx7 chassis.
i am using a racing beat(holley) setup.
i have 2 questions....
i am including a picture to help get a solid answer, or confirmation really...

my questions are;
the hole i have marked in blue. is the only function of this to feed the heater core.
can i plug this?

the hose marked in yellow;
is this to go to the fuel tank to give pressure?

also, according to the racing beat holley instructions say not to use the "purge valve, but feed this directly into the air cleaner.
sound correct?

thanks in advance
K.

and no, this is not actually my engine, but the pic suits my purpose here...

yea the blue arrow goes to the heater core. as for plugging it idk. reason for doing that leads me to believe that the car in question will be track only? what u have marked in yellow would be used to vent crank case(search lung mustard), to eliminate moisture build up in the oil fill tube.

yellow line goes to the charcoal cannister. line above that goes to the pcv, which is that round black thing. eventually it ends up in the air cleaner.

yes, track only. seems to me cooling would only improve with the heater core line plugged. correct me if i'm wrong(i often am!)

as for the crank vent, i thought that was the line above(not marked, attached to purge valve.

thoughts?

dr. wombat 09-14-09 12:58 PM

ahhh... charcoal canister.... right.
it attaches via a steel line on the firewall, right? then to the canister?

dr. wombat 09-14-09 12:59 PM

so the holley(RB) instructions do not include the valve.

they rout directly to the air cleaner.

seem kosher?

Anyone?

The line to the oil filler neck can be plugged, but it is nice to run a line from a PCV. The other side of the PCV would need to tap into air from the intake manifold or any spot on the carb that draws from under the throttle plates. I believe the large line in the center of the primaries on the Holley does this.

do not plug that! You need crankcase ventilation. Either put a tiny k&n filter on the neck or drill a tiny hole in the oil filler cap if you are not planning on running a pcv.

the holley instructions(from racing beat) seem to rout the line above my yellow marking directly into the air cleaner, no valve. seem right to delete valve? or should i put the valve in line?

yellow line will still go to canister, right?

dr. wombat 09-15-09 04:50 PM

little k&n can replace valve?

then line back to fuel tank will be blocked, correct?

yep
