Supercharge?

I have a 1985 RX7 GSL (12A) and I have been restoring it. So far the body is back to being in great condition, so now I am looking towards the engine. I was looking into a possible supercharging. Anyone have any links they can send me on where to find a reasonably priced supercharger? I am also taking a look at turbocharging, but I know that is a but more expensive and a lot more involved to install. Anyways, some links to either would be helpful and maybe some input on which would be a good choice, thanks.

NB4DALOK! Seriously theres alot of info here and people on both sides of this issue already. Atkins is the only one I know of that has a turnkey setup. Dont let this turn into a flame war guys. You've been warned. ;)

A newb question...85 12A? When did the 13 become standard I thought in 85

Atkins Dan 05-04-04 06:27 PM

I have the S\C manifold for a 12-A.

im pretty sure in 84-85 12a's and 13b's were available.

86 is second gen and when they started using the standard 13b

OtakuRX 05-05-04 02:26 PM

ok, what is required (other then s/c) to s/c a 12a? Any porting required, am only looking at the 5 inch right now. How about carb sizes, I am going to adapt an Eldebrock to the car (I like the small primaries/large secondaries) and a looking to go in the range of 500-550cfm w/ no porting on the engine.

13b were used in the 84/85 gsl-se

for the 12-A camdem S\C only offers the 7in .
1: to make the camden you need the 2ed gen water pump and housing.
2: From what I have found is that a holley works better than Eldebrock for the rotary But your luck may be better than mine. The carb on my car is a 650 cfm.

What kind of power is gained by the 7". also what is meant by 7" or 5". What kind of pressure will it push?

Just linkth is what is differient between the 5in and 7in .
The power you will make should be about 233 @ the flywheel.
the boost will depend on what pulley you run you can have 3-12 PSI . In my 7 I am only running 6 PSI of boost now keep in mind this is my daily driver and that is all I want to use on the street [I have a lead foot problem] BUT when I an @ the track I use the 12 PSI pulley.

i might be putting a 4-71 GMC Supercharger in my 7, but I gotta plan this all out first. I'll tell ya how it goes. The hardest part is gonna be putting a hole in my hood.....

Atkins Dan 05-05-04 06:03 PM

The camden charger will fit under the hood line.

dark mephisto 05-05-04 06:52 PM

yeah, but i don't really have that kind of cash, lets see, buying a used 4-71 100 cnd, buying camden supercharger, too damm expensive.
