stupid me.. doh

k im an idiot i know so dont rub it in... as u might know i have my project car im working on, its almost all the way stripped down and the sanding has begun on it, the only thing i have to take out is the engine block and front lower control arms, the rest is just chassis. now i ripped all the wires out compeletly and plan on rewiring only what i need but upon sanding the left side i came across the gas cap.. DOH!!! forgot its electric popped. is it just positive and negative wires that come from it and when both are connecte activates the motor? id hate to just fiberglass over it because i want to make sure its sturdy and rip out all the old gas stuff. is there like an inline fuse that protects it? i would really hate to resort to prying it off because i would no doubt ruin it and have to go thru the pains of glueing metal in there for reinforcements. if this works how im thinking would it hurt to just use a car battery or do i need like a smaller battery. thanks in advance just dont wanna screw it up

:D

Remove the rear interior panel and then pull the level back by hand.

I am not sure how it is set up, but, my old '86 Subaru wagon's didn't work and I used to just slide my key between the gas door and body and push the little button in. I never scratched it or anything. It worked perfect every time. Might work.

like myrxbad said: just open it manual. It's easy enough, I've done it a few times, all you do is removing the trim, and then you can reach the lever and open it. Don't need a battery or anything.

If you do put the battery in, make sure nothings gonna short out anywhere else...Like the cable that goes to the starter and what not (ask me how I know).

actually if you're fexible, you can reach it without removing the panel. power to the triple jointed people.

Due to sitting around, the solenoid in mine rusted so that it wouldnt pop. I had to use a pocket knife to pry it open. If youre careful, you wont hurt anything. Little squirt of WD-40 and I was back in business.
