Strut Top Position
Basically, I'm wondering which corner the strut top is suppose to be. (1, 2, 3, or 4)
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1210/Strut.jpg I'm also curious whether or not the position of the strut top would affect anything dealing with the steering and the wheel displacement. |
Not sure what question you are asking?

the strut tops are eccentric, i dont know about position numbers, but its easy to see if you look at it.
i like the top of the strut inwards and as far back as you can (max camber, and caster). it changes camber and caster, but not much. |
Because currently I have it so that the left side is in the (3) and on the right side I have it on the (4). I was just wondering what the stock location is suppose to be. Because I remember reading, but can't find it, that the location of the top can either cause more oversteer or understeer.

it's supposed to be back and in. to the back of the car and in towards the center of the car so, left side should be at position 4 and right side 3.
|
Thanks, exactly what I wanted to know.

According to the FSM, the original setting is "back and out." At least, it is for SA's:

I think for max camber and caster, point the arrow towards the middle of the car. #4 on the left and #3 on the right according to Druken's picture.

Follow the FSM for your year, but I don't think there's any variation, year to year. Section 10, steering.
|
Positions, along with the impact of caster/camber can be found in the FSM, Section 10A, pg. 13.
