Strut bars

do you guys know of and places that sell front and rear strut bars for 1st gens? is there and other ones that will fit? (ive heard of honda strut bars fitting)

i have not seen a rear bar but fronts you can get from:

www.rotorhead.ca (board member Manntis site)

and www.racingbeat.com

Sk8r_dude 05-17-03 01:20 PM

ok, thanks, ill check that out

AdrenalifeRX7 05-17-03 06:15 PM

You don't want or need a rear strut bar since first gens have some pretty tight asses. It would be useless.

Contact Chris at CP Racing he sells front and rear and they are quite nice.
shop: 519 940 9225
cell: 416 896 5448

His stuff is always on E-Bay

yea cp is the way to go, i'll be getting one soon. And yes, a rear bar is useless, the struts only stick up a few inches from the main part of the body, there would be no gain there.

Manntis 05-18-03 12:01 AM

The ones on my site are the CP racing ones. I carry them for Chris at a fixed price, whereas he sells direct via auction on eBay.

Sk8r_dude 05-18-03 01:35 AM

ok, how much was it for the front? how much would shipping cost? (i live in the toronto area)

$200 strut brace pictures are up

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=652512

pics r up. Should be another week or so for 2 extra tri-point bars.

But, you could buy the strut brace right now for $200 and then pay $30 for the 2 extra bars when they are completed.

1st brace is going for $180.

congrats - you just answered a question someone asked 4 years ago ;)

Back from the dead!!!!

trochoid 05-28-07 08:05 AM

And the good part is CP Racing is no longer in business due to thier terrible customer service and poor quality. Check the 1st gen for sale section. Someone has just started making new strut bars for around 200, add another 30 for the tri-point. I've read that some have modded the 2nd gen strut bars to fit the 1st gens, they can be found on eBay for 30 bucks sometimes.

very nice Billy, one question...with it only bolting to two points on each strut tower, would that put alot of stress on those to bolt points?

Manntis 05-28-07 12:46 PM

There's not *that* much stress on them, since if there was the strut tower tops would try to move by centimeters or even decimeters, not millimeters.

trochoid 05-28-07 01:03 PM

One can find many of the strut bars that only use 2 of the bolts as mounting points, even many of the big name brand ones, not the just the eBay knock offs. Billy produces nothing but well engineered quality products, I would have no worrys at all using his strut bar.

They can't be. They have to be bolted through the firewall to make strut changes and suspension work easier. It's merely a process of removing the cowl vent, drilling holes through the flange plates and firewall, then using nuts and bolts. That's what I had to do with my RE tri-point strut bar. I like Billy's flanges, they spread the load over a larger area than the RE bar does. I had to make larger plates that I welded to the firewall to spread the load over a large area. I was worried that the small footprint of the RE bar would cause to much localized flex in the firewall.

im talking about to the rest of the bar. not the firewall.

Yes the firewall tubes are welded to the main strut bar.
