strange oil leak
After doing the oilc cooler replacement, I've developed a oil leak on top of my 12a right next to the distributor. It's making a puddle on the forward 12a casting model mark. I'm hoping it's not the motor coming apart and leaking there. Anyhelp? Don't have a camera to take a picture of it

It probably looks just like my oil leak coming from there. From what i've found out, 12a's just start to leak there eventually. Theres not much you can do besides a re-build, except just live with it like I am.

Yeah and wait till all 4 do it, then its a BAD problem. And very embarssing at stop lights, but look on the bright side its a perpetual oil change :) Wont have to change the oil anymore ...

Yup, that be the spot! It's a self oiler my wife says' Anything I can do to slow it down? Any bolts to tighten?
|
mine leaked there too until I lost compression.

Thats an infamous dowell rod "o" ring leak. Takes a rebuild to fix it. I've had it on my 82 for over three years now. The amount of oil leaked is minimal, just creates a mess. I say feed until the engine dies, but on the other hand it may not die from this problem.

Use 20w50 oil if your not already to slow down the leak.

the worst part of the damm oil leak is the fact it slowly drips down the side of the engine, then gets blown back by the airflow under the car onto the cat and / or exhaust pipes creating a stinky and smokey mess.
