Stock Vs Rice - a Valuation Q.
I have seen many FB's for sale lately, and it seems that a completely stock FB sells for much more than one that has a wide body kit, or even a new front bumper.
I like how my fb looks stock, but it also looks very sweet with a wide body... very indecisive and spring is around the corner. |

Don't expect to get out of your car what you put in... As carl said just do what you like and enjoy it.

I agree with you guys, don't even keep track of how much money your spending... When i pay money for aftermarket parts and stuff I dont even care if they cost a ton because I gain knowledge of cars and parts while im doing, having a great time and learning new things is what its all about. You will almost never get back what you put into a vehicle, so you cant upgrade things thinking its going to make the value of the car going up, if your going to sell a vehicle don't even think of modifing it...

I got the same problem, but i'm never planing on selling it, so i'm going to modify my sa to my hearts content.

Cars with widebodies are often in need of body work because properly fitting a widebody is very costly.For paid shop labor it can be MANY times the actual cost of the body kit.
So most of the time the fenders start to peel off after a few years from a substandard install.This makes the car even less desirable to the owner,especially after they recently spent 1000 bucks on the kit. After you do it right,youll be so far in the hole,you wont be able to sell the car because... 1.Youll be taking a huge loss. 2.No one(or very few people) will be willing to pay a reasonable amount for your custom car. Unless you know someone or can do good bodywork yourself.Then you can save thousands.Personally,I hate it.I did everything on my car myself,but I cant stand sanding and painting. I would have to ask 20K for my car, if I sold it.....and that would barely cover the body/paint work it recieved in the last 2-3 years.Id be eating the other $$$ I spent the previous 7 years on the engine,susp,brakes,interior,ect...... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...y/DSC01383.jpg |
I agree with you steve84GS TII but I must admit, you did a damn good job. However, for the point you made here I totally agree and if you want to save cash to do engine performance and other stuff then you might want to hold on the wide body. I always though about having a wide body once my car have nothing else to be done and I feel like just adding that last part to it. Hehehe, but the money I would spend doing all that I think i would pick a FD. lol like that I would have a FB + FD to play around with. =)

i myself dont like widebody, but thats just my opinion. i qive credit to anyone who takes the effort and spends the time and money to fix up their car. its a lot of work and it sure as hell isnt cheap. i say do whatever you like and screw whatever anyone else says. trust me, all my friends are honda guys and very frequenty crack on rotors. and hell my best friend thati live with cracks on my daily and even tells me all the time the rx7 is his most hated car, but i couldnt care less. i drive what i like. but myself i prefer stock with upgraded wheels, lowered, and maybe a few other body modifications, but with all the performance upgrades your heart desires :) i think Cp racing fender flares are a better choice that widebody kits. that is unless youre running some crazy wide wheels. but yet again thats my opinion and my opinion shouldnt matter to what you do to your car;)

honestly i think those fender flares look extremely ghey. I was thinking about getting the cp headlight conversion,. but they just dont look right.
I have only seen a couple of widebody fbs that look great, and i suspect they were custom jobs. |
