stock timing for 2gdfis?

This hasn't been talked about much, but would the timing change if i upgraded to the 2nd gen ignition and matching plugs? I did read that some people have trouble timing it based on the leading wires, so they timed it based on the trailing wires, but the trailing shouldn't have changed, should it?

I just want to maximize the performance on the upgrade.

Thanks,
Alvin

it should be the same as stock. whoever did it using trailing, in place of leading, I will keep my comment to myself ;)

lol, ok, would the timing even have been affected? or would it be about the same as pre coil upgrade, i guess i'll just check it to find out, thanx!

It should change at all. its just a coil replacement.

I thought people where seeing a difference when going to the transistor trick boards. In that case, they needed to reset their timing.

Either way, poping the timing light on is never a bad idea

This only applies to the transistor trick.

I believe there is a slight delay in the translation of the analog signal to a digital sine wave that the second gen ignitor is expecting. Therefore timing is ever so slightly retarded. That is what I understand to be happening. Basically think of the transistor trick as an analog to digital converter...

You would only have to adjust your timing if you use the transistor trick.

This is true, but it is well worth the 20 seconds that it takes to give the dizzy a quick twist. Upgrading to the 2nd gen coils is actually quite a bit easier when doing the transistor trick at the same time by the way. :)
