Still sputtering? now what

Heres the problem. When I bought the car over a month ago it did not run. I put a new fuel pump on it and did all the other little things that I needed to do before I started it. When I got it running it had a miss fire or something wrong with it ( and no brakes). I messed around with it as long as I could. I broke down and took it to my rotary guy. He has had the car 3 weeks now. Just today I went to pick it up. I decided to take it for a spin first. The car is still doing it. I was like FUCK. I cant take this shit. I took it back and told him that it was still doing that same damn thing. The car still idles up and down and sputters when you drive it. But when you get the car going above 40mph it drives fine. Needs the tires balanced, but fine.

So my question is, what next? I cant keep this car at the shop. I have a place to keep it but come on, I bought the car so that I could drive it.

My other question is will an LS1 fit in it? If so where can I get all of my parts that I need for it?

O yeah its a 84 GSLSE.

Check the fuel injectors for cracks and whatnot or maybe they need a good cleaning. Before you go send them off to be cleaned though you should go up to murray's or an autoparts store & pick up some lucas upper cylinder lubricant & fuel injector cleaner. My TII started sputtering and I put that stuff in and it didn't sputter anymore.Good luck!

I know that it is a sin to put a piston engine in a rx7 but if I cant get the car to work rite then that is what im going to do.

I have all ready put some sort of fuel system cleaner in. He is going to put on the new fuel filter tomorrow. I hope that does the trick. He thinks that it is just running bad for the fact that the car sat for so lone. The plates that I tool off the car expired in 02.

That is some very good stuff. I used it in my FI nissan when I had an injecter acting up. Nothing else worked.

Have you taken a good look at your plug wires, cap and rotor?

I have done all of that.

My guess would be to check the timing.

Did you check the TPS? If it is out of whack it can cause an oscillating idle and poor running. I also have a thread in the achieves that will tell you how to check for error codes on the ECU (same sort of setup as the TPS adjustment lights). It is real easy to do and only takes a couple minutes. At least that may tell you if the coolant temp sensor, TPS, or AFM are bad/disconnected.

I will make sure to check that out gsl-se addict
