Stereo unit ?
Im sure many of you have noticed how the face of our stereo units turn kinda tan over the years. It seems to have a protective covering on it that turns as it ages. Mine has a few scratched places on it where this covering has came off and it appears to be a brighter silver underneath.
My question is...Have any of you tried anything to get this covering off and make it look new again? Thanks |
i've never tried removing that protective film. i assume that it was put there as a "clear coat" for the radio's finish. i'mnot sure what would happen if you pulled it off. keep us posted if you do.

Cool, so a brush, cuticle stick to scrape everything off, then alcohol to clean up and Im good??? I was wondering about the new finish fading, but you said your has been good for a few years now....I think Im going to give it a try this weekend.
Hope the wife has one of these cuticle sticks. Thanks, R |

I actually started at one time to remove the CC with a solvent cleaner. Got part way thru and stopped for some other project. It looks good underneath but mine was a very slow and tedious project.... jerij |
