Stereo surround differences
Hey guys,
I have two different stereo surround/center stack units, and I was wondering why they are different, and if they could be from other years. I have the factory one from my 83 LE that has words printed on the heating controls like Bi-level,Heat,Defrost,etc,and the other just shows logos like a pair of shoes for heat, and a windshield for the defrost. Other than the logos, and words they are exactly the same. The one with the logos I bought new from Mazda a few years back(maybe '99,'00). Could the one with the logos be a non-North american unit with no english language printed on the face, and only universal logos? Any idea what these are worth to seel as used? I did a search on the for sale section, and the prices are all over the place. |
Nothing?

not sure there. i've only seen the one with the words.... 84-84 radio surrounds are different based on the S/GS and GSL/GSL-SE.

This is a 81-83 surround.
|
correct, i was saying that the only 81-83 surrounds i have seen have had the words and symbols and not just the symbols...

I have the european SA heater control insert - on the SA at least, this piece is a separate component - anyway, has all logos instead of words - likewise the instrument cluster...
Guess when you market a car overseas with 10+ different languages the logo-route is simpler :D Stu Aull 80GS w/euro-bits Alaska |
