Alright so far the interior is all out, and the engine is pretty stripped. Nearly all the wires I wanted gone are out. Tell me what you think so far.

How difficult was the interior tear down? Screwdrivers, ratchet set and a can of WD40 sort of thing?

lol ya my left door panel was the first thing to go *lol acually took it out because my hand hit my knee when i was turning the wheel* so the right door panel is gonna be last lol.... i need to jerk that engine out though. waiting around for a few strong young bucks to help me. no picker lol.

i think a 10mm socket rachet, 10mm wrench and a puerto rican kid (chris) to help me get out the bolts on the dash that are like lodged between the dash and the front windshield.

Im gonna be tearing mine down in about 2 months, i have the ratchet set covered, can i borrow the puerto rican kid, lol. I don't have one of my own.

That actually influences me to get my interior stripping taken care of once and for all!

Good Job.. I only tore apart my dash to replace my heater core valve and that was enough for me. What kind of plans for the interior do u have in mind?

Its not too hard to pull the entire engine is it? I am going to be doing a swap soon and I would like to know what Im getting myself into.

not neccisaryly a puerican, just tiny hands needed lol..

Mostly a full out street machine. Completely designed for street racing. I want a tiny bit of handling in there, just for pure fun. As for the interior I'm going to cage it, lexan all the windows, except the front, and spray the entire inside with a semi glossy black. So I can run no interior. I'm going to re-install the dash but, it'll be a bit customized.

As I have my engine now it's about 8 bolts from being lose. Then just snatch it out. Me and one friend, should be able to get most engines out in about 2 to 4 hours. Depends on how stock it is. lol... The way mine is now should be about an hour to two. It will be a quick job.

Get that thing down to the shop. We'll snatch out that engine & trans in 15min. The picker will make quick work of it. Then we can cage it and get the little rican to work on the satin black, while we throw shards of Lexan at em LOL!

Yeah, no doubt. Jake is building a nasty boosted FB here. When it's done, the fun factor is going to off the scale! Straight ripping wheel stands from red lights. You'll need quick removing seat covers so you can get the brown marks out with little effort.

I donno I like the plastic seats idea, just wipe them up lol.

on topic: while the interior is out, consider laying seams along those stupid tack welds that hold unibody cars together. I know the first gens already have amazing chassis rigidity, but after many many years of abusive driving its bound to wear down. Looks great though!

Ya, I was a good 80% on jumping in there with paul, from Himni Racing, to get crazy with the mig.

will you be removing all the tar mat as well? (save the weight you weld into the seams :)

I'm going to dry and get ahold of some dry ice, to see how well that method works. If it works good, the material will come out. if doesn't, it kept it's home this time around.

just use an air chisel if you can, that shit will bust right off.

ha looks like mine on the inside...I took the engine out with a chain hoist...if you had a garage just go to the local hardware store and just pick up a cheap on and hook it to a beam in your garage and yank it out...really really easy that way...

Is there a way to remove the dash and not remove the steering wheel??

Yes, you have to remove the 2 bolts that hold the steering wheel assembly to the dash, but then you can just bolt it.

BTW - First gen man, I'm just about in the same place you are in my teardown. I'm going to soda or sandblast all the crap out of my car.
