Started after 20 years!!!
 

Hey guys my RX7 has been sitting for 20+ years. I started working on it about a week ago. (Rebuilt the carb, new plugs, new distubitar/wires, new altanater, new starter, new battery, ect.) Finally got it started and driving today. The engine seems a little "gunkie" of course. But I was wondering if their is anything I can do besides just driving it and redlining?

You almost certainly need a full overhaul of the fuel system, unless the car was stored bone dry. Tank cleaning/replacement, line blow out, pump/filter replacement, etc.

congrats on getting it running though, there's people who can't get these cars started this easily that have been sitting for 1/4 of the time.

Thank you! I did drop the tank and clean it. Also replaced the fuel filter/ pump and blew out the lines. I put some fuel system cleaner in with the new gas.

Run a can of Seafoam thru the fuel tank!!! De-carbon that baby!

Nice job getting it back on the road. I had a similar tale of success back in October when I sparked up an engine that had been sitting on a stand in my garage for about 12yrs. I bought it from a member here back in the early 2000's and spun it over by hand with MMO inside every month or so just to keep the seals wet.

Worked well for that, and a good dose of MMO in your fuel wouldn't hurt to clean up the carbon which may have hardened over time. Good luck,

Nice... Go through your hoses and brakes too.. they are bound to be dry rotted.
