Squeaking/squealing from steering at low speed (parking)
I've noticed lately that my steering is making a pronounced squealing sound while I turn the wheel when the car is stationary. Made sure the p/s fluid was at the right level. I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive. Idler arm is new.

wheel bearing?
|
it's probably the little brass spring loaded piece behind the steering wheel that rubs on the back side to make the horn work. once they get worn down to a certain point they make a squeaking sound. my 7 has yet to do it but the 808 i used to have did. but it does it any time u turn the wheel, not just sitting still. if that's not it, i have no clue if it only does it while sitting still and not when moving.

It is definitely not the steering wheel itself. Its from the front steering linkages somewhere.
Not a wheel bearing sound. Its like a creaking if that makes any sense. |
mine did something like that. i have a fmoc and one of the mounts ended up being broke. so every time i turned my wheel, the sway bar would hit it. but the only way to find what's making that noise is to jack it up and look.

ok then maybe it's coming from the bushings.

Would silicone lubricant help or should they be replaced?
|
They're not expensive. just replace them.
