Spring rates?? What's you setup?

Right now I'm on RB springs. Better that most aftermarket but no so good at the track. I'm looking at customs springs rates @ re-speed. But need some feedback about what your running.

I'm thinking 275 front 150 rear?? Is that too sopft?

Hyper4mance2k 07-17-11 04:04 PM

I'm running respeed coilovers with 300/200. Perfect for daily driven and weekend warrior status. Once the FB gets taken off the street it's going 700/500

twinkletoes 07-17-11 04:13 PM

I'm running 350/150 respeed race coilovers. Just installed the 150 rears so don't know what its like yet. With the 350 fronts and RB springs rear it was very nice. Street driven..

Back when I was messing up my 82, I had the ReSpeed coilover setup on it with 275 fronts. Rear springs were unknown but harder than Racing Beat springs. I wouldn't go much higher than 300 on the front though, will start to rattle your fillings out lol.

To give you an idea of how hard the 275's were, I didn't feel like I needed an upgraded sway bar (still stock) with the tires I had, which were 205/50R16 BFG g-force sports. Its all about personal opinion, but the car cornered very well with the setup I had.

Lol I like the hard suspension. lol Vegas roads arent that great either.. I'm on stock sway bars with my setup but would still like a respeed bar in front and stock in rear.

I basically told Billy at the time I didn't want body roll but still streetability. Very happy with it though.

I run 275/150 and love it. If you don't run a very stiff front swaybar then you can go a little higher rate on the front end. But with a Respeed front bar, I wouldn't advise anything over 300 on the front (that bar is VERY stiff).

This is my daily driver/weekend autocrosser. :)

Good to know. Maybe the RB bar or suspension techniques sway bar then.

Kentetsu, you went from the RB sway bar to the Re-speed bar right? Is the re-speed bar a lot stiffer than RB??

dbragg 07-18-11 09:07 AM

I am running 274/125 with a RB front bar and no rear bar. I just installed the rears, and the only reason I went with 125 is because I got them given to me. I was going to buy 150 for the rear, but you can't beat free. I have just finished the 125 rear install and driven it a few times.

I was running the 250 fronts with eibach rears for a while, and that set up felt great. The roads in Atlanta are horrible. I have lower profile tires, 205/40 and 215/40, and it isn't too bad. I think it'd be a lot better if I had higher profile tires, but the car is very rarely driven, and I like the stiffness.

Personally, I wouldn't go higher than 250-300 on the street, but it all comes down to personal choice.

The ideal thing to do would be use the Respeed swaybar, which will allow you to run a lighter spring up front. This results in a more comfortable ride overall, and better traction as well.

Donny, going from the RB bar to the Respeed bar was night and day difference. Plus, that RB bar weighed a TON! The Respeed bar is feather light in comparison.

i'm 350/175 with an old ground control front bar and no rear. i couldn't be happier. it handles great and it still pretty soft so its comfy. it is a bit stiff over speed bumps and stuff like that, but its not a street car.

in my experience SHOCKS have more to do with ride quality than the springs. for example, in our group we've got 3 running FC's. mine is 76k stock, coco's is 320/225 with KYB AGX's. these two ride a lot alike, the stock car feels like it uses more suspension travel to soak up bumps, but other than that they really feel similar.

mike #2's FC, is running 400/275 springs with KONI's and it rides AWESOME, its BETTER than my stocker! it also happens to handle really well.

i'm running the BZ1086 illiumina in the front and rx7 illumina in the rear. set to 3 per sams shock dyno's

300/200 and illuminas on full stiff.

:D

I am sure! I wanted to get the Respeed bar badly, but lack of funds has prevented that. After I graduate I am sure it will will come, along with a WHOLE lot more ;)

Oh yeah, I am also running RX7 illuminas all around, and they are all set to max, 5.

This seems to be the way. Going on 275/150 with fron re-speed sway bar will allow me to put the rear RB sway bar on the "soft" setting.

I have 550 in front and 450 in the back

I plan on running slick tires on the track

Can't go wrong with that in my opinion. Just tell Sam you want the "Kentetsu special". :)

is this on the stock rear and spring location?

It's not called the Kentetsu Special for nothing. I'm running it. Feels pretty good. Nice n flat through corners, soft enough to keep my teeth in my mouth.
