Spring Preference
I know the racing beat springs are popular because of the name for the fb...but I wanted everyone's input and experience with aftermarket/lowering springs. I am looking for ideas on a very performance oriented spring otherwise I would just go with racing beat or stock. Thanks guys

for street, I prefer eibach springs over racing beat or TMC racing.

Make sure to get shocks that match the springs well. For instance the RB require a better shock
than a new OEM replacement. |

Very happy with my setup; Respeed coilovers.
I did RB springs/swaybars first, but it was immediately clear that the "upgrade" in performance was not nearly enough for me. Sold all that and went with coilovers. Performance is rock solid... . |

great info/ideas guys. I like the idea of the respeed setup. I plan on re-doing the front end with bushings as well. already did the rear when I took the rear housing off the car.

where would I be able to find NEW eibach springs for an 85?

Eibachs are NLA. You have to find used.
I had them on my car for a while and loved them. I then swapped them for a full Respeed setup when I got the front coil overs and camber plates for my birthday. The car handles a lot better now, but it's obviously harsher on poorly maintained roads. In reality, coil overs are overkill for what my car sees, and I often debate throwing the Eibachs back on, but probably won't. I'll hold onto them for my next more docile build. Suspension Techniques is another good option for the street. They're progressive as well. |
if we knew the rate of the eibach springs, then we could spec the Respeed/coil over springs in the same rate, and that would give you height adjustability, availability and you could run camber plates, which is really important for handling

On my car, I have the GC coilover conversion with Eibach 2.5" front springs (350 LB/IN), and the NLA GC Eibach rear (200 LB/IN) race springs. Been on there several years, very satisfied. |

I loved my RE Speed coil perches. Took bout a month to receive them though is the down side. I noticed better quality in the RB springs over stock, but not what I was looking for.

I hate winter in SOCAL. cant do shit at mid-40s to mid-50s after sundown lol

I purchased weld on coilovers from GC and received them in about one week, from CALIFORNIA to Buffalo. They didn't have the rear kit like re -speed so I ordered them in October. After trying to contact re-speed several times I finally canceled my order through my credit card company at the end of December.
I liked the feedback on this setup but it seemed to be bad timing for me to get them. There is a message apologizing for the poor service from them. You should check it out. Search Respeed communication. I am still looking for 175 lb springs for the rear of my SA. Would like to find out where they purchased them from so I could make up my own setup. |

It's difficult finding the spring rates on some of these. Racing Beat rears 112 lb, Suspension Technologies 80 lb, Eibach 100lb and stock is 80 lb. Most of the manufacturers give you percentages and amount of lowering in inches.
Not sure about B&G. I have 300 lb front coilovers so I only need the rear springs and not the complete front rear kits most of them offer. Has anyone converted to a more common size spring on the rear, changing the "pockets " top and bottom where the springs sit? |
you're looking in the wrong place for the rears, its off the shelf circle track stuff.
i have 350/175's in my car and it rides ok on the street. in my experience the shocks have a bigger impact on ride than the springs do, although 250/150 might be better. or actually NODE and i did his car with stock springs and shocks and camber plates and its pretty damn good. |
