source for 15x7 wheels w/13mm offset
 

After researching on this site, I chose to do the respeed big brake upgrade to my 85 rx7. I have completed the swap but am now in need of some wheels. I have read several posts that allude to 13mm being the perfect offset for this car but have not been able to locate even one source to purchase some. I called tirerack.com but they are no longer carrying that offset, in that size wheel. Anyone know of a source to buy some 15x7 w/13mm offset? I really don't want to run a spacer.

I was under the impression that the FC brake upgrade would require the use of FC wheels. Those have more than 13mm offset, I believe.

It definately requires a five lug (4.5" pcd) wheel to work (just like stock 2nd gens), but as far as my research and seeing it in person on my car, 13mm is pretty close to perfect for the fronts.

Odd. I have +15 offset for my 15x7 4x110 wheels. I thought the FC brake swap would use a higher offset. I guess I just thought the FC wheels were correct, my bad.

Wow, just typed a message and ended up getting the white screen of death! Well, here goes again.

The Respeed kit keeps the TII hub in the same relative position as the stock hub, meaning it will take the same offset as stock. You can use FC 5 bolt wheels on the car, you just need to use a 1" spacer to get the offset right. Stock FC offset is +40mm, 25mm adapter (1"), and an effective offset of +15mm when you put the addapter on the car.

I have a full set of the brakes to do this swap, but they are still on a complete FC 2+2.
I have considered doing the swap, but didn't want to change wheels. I also don't want to get my Ronals redrilled, which I now know would work.

pm billy. he told me a little while back about a set of 15x7 wheels on ebay for sale brand new for a little over $300. he said they were the perfect offset for the kit. i think they went on some toyota car. i just searched and found a used set of Work Equip 16x7 and 16x8 when i did this swap. i dont think my fronts have a 15mm offset though...hmm.

Thank God I am not the only one. I just finished the big brake swap this sunday. I borrowed my friends five lug FC with a plus 40 mm offset. Crash right into the coil overs. Atleast 3/4 of a inch from sitting flush. So I have been searching and calling all over looking for a much lower offset. I was thinking of plus 25 with a 1/4 spacers or there about. NO luck. I found a spacer that is 1.25 inches on ebay, I buying it tonight. The pair is like $50 or so. Yea I thought, wo hoo five lug, I will have all these wheels to chose from. I am a little pissed about that part. With the ebay spacer, you should be able to run 40mm offset and still have 3/8 " clearance with 17x7 with 215 rubber. I hope some of this info helps. 1 day to do the swap and a week finding wheels.

If your running 15's I am sure the offset would still be the same. Just so you know there is a lot more tire selection with the 17 wheels.. Edgeracing.com has some nice wheel and tire packs for the 17's

Hmmm, FC wheels won't fit, well that sucks. I have a mint set of TII wheels and another set of balogney cutters.

fc wheels should fit with a small spacer. and in the reat they should be fine...

Alright, if you search this has been gone over probably 10 times already since billy has offered the big brake kit. When running a 7" wide wheel and a max tire size of 215, you HAVE to have just the right offset. The front fenders simply don't offer that much space in stock form. Even with a 205 you may rub without rolling the fender lip. I have gone through all the calculations and a -10 to -16mm offset wheel will fit with a 205 tire with 1/4" of space between the strut and tire, but the fender will still need to be rolled to prevent rubbing. A 215 will be an even tighter fit and with a 1 1/4" spacer will most definately rub the fender.

To fit a +40mm offset wheel you need a 1" spacer. You could probably go a little less or more if you use a narrower tire, but 1" is the most ideal.

I'm super-excited to have found this thread.

I'm looking for wheels now...I was so excited that Billy was able to help me out and piece the kit together for me, but I've met an impasse trying to negotiate offset, width, and lug pattern with my tastes.

The computer guy in my wants a database of wheels, offsets, bolt patterns, and sizes to come up with the right wheel...haha.

15x7 wheels that I've been looking at (read: wanting) only come in 4x100 or 4x114.3. I'm not confident enough to PURCHASE a 16x7 wheel/tire combination and then have it rub like mad. I guess the WORST-CASE scenario is that I have to roll my fenders...it's just another addition to the never-ending project. I also want to make sure that I can get all of my power to the ground...it's a very difficult juggling act and so far I haven't been very successful.

How are you guys coming along with your wheel decisions?

when i put on the kit waay long ago, i had to run fc spares for awhile till i found spacers. i ended up with 1" spacer on my 15x7 +32 offset i believe. as for the rear, i kept it with the gsl-se pattern and found a set of wheels that had both bolt patterns. i wont upgrade the rear seeing as the caliper and rotors are just about the same size as fc's already. but yes, finding wheels were the hardest part.

Anyone else have anything to share?
