sorry to leave (what is my Fb worth and do you want to buy it?)

Hey gang
I just wanted to thank everybody, sterling, 82transam and th bunch for all the help with my carb problems. I'm taking it to a mechanic next week or the week after because it is beyond my ability to fix, and at this juncture I don't have the time or the means to keep working on it, being a broke college student bumming my dads passat for a ride. . .

Sooooo I have an '84 GSL, tornado silver, with approx. 190k. 3rd engine, junkyard motor with approx 150k. Is starting to blow some blue smoke on startup. Posi, 4-wheel disk, brand spankin new tiresI (don't remember the make right but hey are the cheap 205/60's on tirerack.) Removed A/C, removed PS. Tokico Blues shocks/struts.

I'll have a fabricated straight exhaust from the manifold to the muffler before I put her up for sale. Some dents, some dings. No serious rust, I bought this car from the original owner and its been garaged about 95% of its life so the paint still shines up. Is missing a radio and a loving owner. I'm thinking about $700 and I will cry when it goes away because it was my first car back from '95 and I have worked like hell to keep it

You're not selling your car just because you have carb problems are you?? **** man, you can buy a sweet aftermarket carb for $300. I'm sure a nice rebuilt Nikki couldn't run too much... better yet, it's almost the winter, send your Nikki out to someone to rebuild it, it couldn't cost ya that much at all. Don't just bring the car to a mechanic, that'll be expensive. Remove the carb yourself (easy pz, takes about an hour the first time you do it) and send it out somewhere. Do everything except the rebuilt yourself (not a very big job just to install a carb) and you'll save a lot of cash.

I'm not assuming your reasons for selling your car, but if it's just because you're getting frustrated with your carb, I think you could easily get around that obstacle without selling it.

wow, i was of enough help to get named specifically? I'm touched (not sarcastic). Anyway, I wouldn't sell it dude, if the carb is messed up try to find one from someone that is known to work and just swap it on. theres gotta be something.

I have one from an 84 GS that "worked" while on my 83 temporarily. I put in on just to see if the engine would ruin, and it started right up and idled fine with it. I just tweaked the mixture and the idle and it ran fine. If you need it, Im only looking to get like $40 plus shipping for it. I need money too, otherwise Id let you have it cheaper .

DON'T LEAVE!
"Shane! Come back, Shane! We love you, Shane! Shane!...."

Take the carb and black base plate off, and mail it to me.
I will rebuild it for you. Send a check for thirty bucks to cover the kit and shipping. PM me for my address.
No bullshit.

Keep the car! I rebuilt an 85 12a carb and it wasn't that hard. I think I got a rebuild kit from NAPA for like $30--had everything in the kit along with instructions. The only thing scary was the little windows on the carb--those seals weren't in the kit and they were starting to deteriorate. You can actually see the fuel level in the carb bowl while it runs.

Actually the removal and install was harder than the rebuild.

Good luck!

Wow!
I made this post then totally forgot about it until a couple weeks ago.
I want to update everyone and say thanks for all the great suggestions, advice etc. I even got a few PM's from people with suggestions, and one or two willing to DONATE a carb to try and diagnose my problems.
So what I did was send an old one to some good samaritan on the board and its being rebuilt right now. When I get it back I'm sure I'll have more to say on the status of my car.

Joe, you can't sell your car over a carb problem! That's pure poppycock and silliness. Now, if you're still debating on selling it, I might be interested. I feel the need to own more oddball Mazda cars, in addition to my TII and 626 Turbo.

Anyways, I haven't talked to you in awhile. You ought to come over to my place and check out the TII. The engine's been pulled and I'm just waiting til it warms up a little before I start tearing off the manifolds. My garage isn't heated, y'know.

Call my cell-phone sometime. 313-9254. I'm off work Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, so call me and we'll get a '7 posse together.

Zach! Man you have been MIA for the last couple months; never see you on AIM or the cincinnati board for that matter. . .
I'm waiting on the fresh carb, when I track down all the bugs I might still want to sell it. Then again, I might want to just keep on driving till the wheels fall off

jeremy if you have any FB knowledge (you have an FC now, right?) I would be delighted to have your input some time, once I get it running. I too have a heated garage (sort of, if space heaters count) and I'm going to be doing alot of work in the next few weeks. Thanks for the support, man.
