Solenoid
Merry Christmas RX7ers
A solenoid (pictured below, white electrical connector) is broken. One side is connected to a vacuum source from the Nikki carburettor, and the other side is broken (my finger is pointing at it). That broken port connects to somewhere I’m not sure. Any ideas? This setup just has two solenoids in the rack, while pictures of other 12A engines show 4 or 5 in the solenoid rack. The characters AESA 127 are printed on the solenoid. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...b32f1dcb6.jpeg It’s a 1981 RX7, SA22C, right-hand drive, manual transmission, Australian delivered model. To give you a hint, here’s a picture of it before it was broken. The vacuum line seems to direct between the oil filler neck and oil filter. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...63283cd58.jpeg The solenoid seems to play a role in engine idle. Disconnect the vacuum line leading from the unbroken side of the solenoid to the carburettor while the engine is running, the idle rises, and then returns to normal when connected. |
its either 1481-13-240A or 1482-13-240A. Mazda used two versions of these solenoids, and the difference is the way the flow is when its off
they used these on everything from 1981-1997 or so |

Thanks, I've found where the vacuum line connects to.
