So I went to the Junkyard..

And ripped a 12a out of an FB just lying there. Brought it home, popped it open, took a look inside. Man, it was sure a bitch to get the rotor housings off without having a wrench to take the flywheel right off.

Anyway, what should I do with this thing? I'm getting my FC on Friday, but I can't think of anything I could do with this FB motor...

send it to me, I'd love to take it off your hands.

Practice porting/rebuilding. If it turns out good, youll have a strong running 12A. If not, oh well. Thats what I would do.

Do a search on the lounge. It was real big a few months ago.

I haven't read anything about porting the 12a, just the 13b... 12a doesn't have Aux ports?   or am I just blind :P

comradegiant 04-28-04 04:38 PM

Right, the 12A has no auxiliary ports. Which has advantages and disadvantages. The auxiliary ports are what give later 13Bs an edge up in horsepower when stock. But for racing most prefer the four port 13Bs and 12as because they can be ported more without adverse effects and are also mechanically simpler.

Do you know of any places with online 12a porting tutorials? :P

Crit 04-28-04 07:12 PM

Practice porting the 12A and if it works out well, put the 12A irons on the FC. Makes the exhaust a lot simpler not having aux ports. I actually turned my rotors, housings, and endplates into two displays and put clocks in the stationary gear after spinning each rotor around.
