i know this is a dumb question, and i dont want to insult your intellegence, but my friend did this once and had the same effect.

Carl, can I slap you now??? Yes, I drained the oil. Damnit. ;)

I'm battling this problem now since the last time I put in some oil(which I had to use Penzoil in a emergency when I blew a hole in my oil line that has that banjo fitting). Is there a pic somewhere of this linkage? Sorry for reviving, but I found this through the search button.

brief add on: I got the low oil light today, when my car was topped off two days ago, so hopefully this linkage would be my issue......

The OMP is on the bottom left of the engine, as you face the front of it. From there a rod goes up to the carb. Rod is actuated when the accelerator is depressed, thus activating the OMP. To help locate you can also see the 2 oil lines coming from the OMP and into the carb.
