If i swap a 13b into my 84gsl will it pass smog ?

You just have to do it right and do it complete.Do a search,it gets asked 3 times a week and theres lots of info in the archieves.
If you mean a GSL-SE 13B,then yea its totally legal and pretty easy into any FB chassis.

If you buy a J-spec S4 13B,then youll have to run U.S. spec intake manifolds in order to get the EGR valve back,but thats it.The U.S. spec S4(turbo or N/A is completely legal)....
If you run a S5 13B,then either U.S. or J-spec will work since they are all the same,emissions-wise.

The trick is to mimick the factory install in the FC chassis.Retain every wire,sensor and component.Some mods are invisible to the smog guys like mild porting,hybrid turbos,light flywheels,MSD ignition and more boost...so your not at all limited to 180-200 HP on a smog legal swap.I put out around 300 crank HP on my ported S5 engine and it smogs to CA standards every time.

Also totally legal,however a substantially more complicated swap.
The twin turbos,front cover hall sensor and oilpan configuration make it much more complicated than a TII,which is damn near a drop in affair.

Do some research and good luck.The TII engine is much more obtainible and can be made just as powerful (and more reliable in many aspects) as the FD engine.
Dont get me wrong,its a sweet setup and would be very unique and responsive.But only few guys have done it,lots more have done the FC engine swap,which gives you a lot more brains to pick and knowledge to soak up before you actually start the swap.

Dont take this the wrong way,but if you dont already know if a 13B-REW turbo swap would be smog legal,are you sure your up to the task of actually performing the swap?
