Slotted/drilled brake rotors
Yo, does anyone know if someone makes cross drilled and slotted brake rotors for non SE fb's? Peace
|
yep there is 2 places to get them. NOPI had then last year when i got them for my 81...got the hookup from a emplyee his price of 99.each for sloted about 210 for the set. they list for 193 each.
RX7.com has sloted and xdrilled for fbs. |
Dont' bother, they are a waste of money.
just my opinion, I could be wrong, hanman |
they look cool :D but yea, not worth the price diffrence

Slotted and cross-drilled rotors are definitely a waste, unless you don't have vented rotors. Both of these additions are left over from the good ol' days when vented rotors were just a dream. Since you're driving a car with non vented rear rotors, you could buy cross-drilled or slotted, but it would be wiser to just upgrade to the SE brakes. Vented rotors without any holes or slots will outlast a rotor with vents or holes anyday.
Oh, unless you're talking about racing in CART or IRL, in which case you do want slotted rotors. But if that's the case, there's probably other upgrades to assess first. Later. |
Correct me if I'm outta line here... I could be wrong, but as I understand it, slotted rotors have nothing to do with cooling. The slots on brake rotors are supposed to collect the brake dust and keep it from building up under the pad, right? That prevents fading over long braking periods...
Cross drilling however is just to help cool things down, and probably IS a tad redundant with vented rotors... unless you race (or at least are very hard on your brakes)... |
that is correct smnc

One of the other reasons i decided against it was that since our rotors are small to begin with when looking through my rims, if i were to get drilled rotors it would only look even smaller and thefore would look worse to me..

They are, however, puny looking....if peejay would ever get his entrepreneurial juices going, I'll buy a set of big rotors and 6-piston calipers for the '80 strut set-up...that's worth about $500 to me...
