Sleepy eye look?

Anyone know how to adjust the headlights on a FB so that when they close they close fully? Thanx.

Manntis 07-25-02 07:20 PM

There's a screw down below the mechanism to adjust it - someone else on here posted exactly where. Do a search and you might find the thread

S2-13BT 07-25-02 07:20 PM

Close fully? Or did you mean don't close fully?

RotorMotorDriver 07-25-02 07:41 PM

Right on top of the motor, there is a rubber cap, slide it off, and there is an adjustor screw right under it. Its more of an adjustor knob actually. Its about 1/4" around. It rather large actually.

Dietbudda - I'm a bit confused are you trying to get the sleepy eye look or are you trying to revert from the sleep eye look back to normal?

Defprun 07-25-02 07:47 PM

Cp Racing will actually make the dual buld sleepy eye look kit but chris is in the process of processing it. I think if you look in a Hayes manual it shows how to maually open your lights if they fail. You could use it to raise your lights!

Manntis 07-25-02 07:49 PM

I don't think he's talking about the sleepy eye "look" so much as headlights that refuse to go all the way down and cause a sleepy look.

Either way, he still needs the screw. What difference does it make what hes trying to do? :)

i care t.j. sniff sniff...............

I was actually trying to find out how to make the lid's open fully when the light is turned on, and then, when say it's 3 in the afternoon, when you turn the lights off to get the lids to close, but not fully, resulting in a sleepy eye look. Kinda like drifters in japan do. It's hard to explain, the best way to describe it is to say, when the lights are on, they are open fully, when they are turned off, they are open about 2 inches, thus the sleepy eyed look.

This look right?

well now.. that cant be helpin the aerodynamics of the car! what are you guys thinking?!!?!?!?!?!?

Keaponlaffen 07-26-02 12:16 AM

forced induction :p:

Dietbudda 07-26-02 12:25 AM

Actually, that does lok right, and actually, it was kinda a way of forced induction. Sound weird, but i saw a pic of a car like that where the guy had it stick up a little bit with a hole cut along side o the light in the upper right corner of the black casing, (Looking at it from the front on the passenger side) Anyway, i'm just curios, because before i go cutting holes and breaking stuff, i wanna see if it's possible. So yeah, how did that guy do it? is it possible to set it a little bit higher?

Pedestrian X 07-26-02 12:34 AM

yea, i heard of it too.. i think it would work really good if u jsut removed the whole light and made it an open are then worked form that :p:

Keaponlaffen 07-26-02 12:48 AM

Doesn't AJC13b's car have one headlight out, forcing in cool air?

Or is that one just loose and flopping around?

peejay 07-26-02 01:57 AM

Why not just get a hammer and break stuff as necessary until they don't close anymore?

My roommate deliberately removed some of the hubcaps on his new Pontiac. I don't understand what the current fascination is with cars that look broken...

treceb 07-26-02 07:46 AM

i believe theres a bump stop inside the headlight assembly area. you can raise it to get the light to stay slightly open.

Rotor13B 07-26-02 09:08 AM

Damn Directfreak, is that your car? If so where did you aquire the front fascia?https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=870046

Dietbudda 07-26-02 10:51 AM

Link? Pics?

I want the kit below, but not so much for performance reasons. That's what the turbo and air dam are for. ;) If BadAssRX-7 would hurry his @ss up and produce the kit I've been waiting on (see picture) I'd already have them. :D

ditto to that. i run with my brights on because their just as bright as a modern cars headlamps. its sad when you can't see 2 ft in front of you.

Defprun 07-26-02 03:41 PM

CP racing hasnt a website yet so no "links/pics". But I did sneak a peak when they were moving and it should look like this:
http://www.mazspeed.com/no%20motor1.jpg
And what people do is than they spot weld them up and remove all the motors and crap for a weight savings of 10pounds a light! Couple that with relocation of battery, and removal of the emissions and you got one light front end buddy!

NOTA V6 07-26-02 04:20 PM

I'll just cut and weld the linkage to make them go up and down to and from the correct "sleepy eye" height. :) Saving ther 20 lbs. isn't that big of a deal to me since I'll be running a fairly hefty turbo and a Wolf EMS. :D

Any word on pricing? I'm getting antsy. ;)

Defprun 07-26-02 05:19 PM

I didnt care much for losing my current pop-up configuration either. I like "blinking" my head lights!
Anyway, I'm sure Guru hasn't started making them yet, or has established a price. I just asked him last weekend, so I doubt the situation has changed.
If anyone is selling the kit RIGHT NOW please tell me :D
