I was on my way back from a 340 mile roadtrip this morining after working untill 1am and hitting the road at 6am... And in between the pink elephants and talking to myself I was contimplating building a 13B Turbo motor to drop in a hypothetical 1st gen that I don't yet own.....( the one I do have is getting an N/a 13B)

Anyways, I was thinking of building the motor more geared for autocrossing rather then street daily usage...

WOULD THIS WORK?

I take a T2 block, remove the two housings, and put in my 13B 6 port housings

essentially leaving me with my 13b NA housings with t2 irons, still as a 4 port.l.. Installing my N/A rotors into the housings with new seals springs blah blah blah...

Bolting a s4 or s5 turbo and manifold to the exhaust ports, and running a modified 13B carb off a 75 rx4 cosmo... Giving me a blowthrough setup

This would essentially be a HIGH compression Turbo setup, resulting in Quick acceleration (useful in autocrossing) in short bursts, without lag...

Why will this not work? Am I totally unhinged or what?

I would keep the TII housings for the exhaust ports and use the LIM, then get the UIM to go with the Weber carb. That or get the Jaytech intake and go Holley.

I woke up at 4 am wide awake thinking about why I shouldnt put a 20b into an FB i do not own yet. And running twin turbo, and for show purposes tri turbo so I can laugh at that tri turbo supra.

why even use the turbo???

I guess go ahead and build it, and prepare to be schooled by an N/A

by the time you are classed for the turbo/frankensteined engine you'll be NOT competetive. .... to the point it will not be fun.


anyway,

your high comp rotors will work in the TII housings, so you won't need to retain the use of those housings... although, if you have spare rotor housings, for FC, N/A or turbo, I can use a pair.. ;)

I agree with trochoid, I would go side-draft before i would rely on an old cosmo 4v acarb.


Also remember, when it comes to rotaries, compressions isn't everything
I used an S5 turbo engine in my car last year. I removed the turbo, bolted on a header and mikuni set-up, blocked off the injector bungs in the intermediate housings and went to town.

Thx for the input, I think I would retain the turbo housings becuas ethey already have the coolant bungs, and the exhaust ports wouldn't need grinding...

I have a s4 motor that has been pickeled for 2 years I am selling $150 for the whole thing ss124a. if no-one buys it as a whole I'll part it out.. (ran great when pulled)

Hey that’s cool were are you located, and how many miles do you think the engine has on it.

I would worry about your carb. setup on that turbo engine you are going to build the craziest of the craziest engine builders in P.R build there turbos with s5 na internals. The problem is that the apex seal grooves were very quickly with anything over 10 pounds. So they will often times harden the grooves and combustion surfaces the prevent caving. The main thing is make sure you don’t fuck up your fuel mixtures if you do one shot and its over detonation is a killer. The truth is I would never go with a carb. like a Holley because on a auto cross course it will slosh and run lean for seconds at a time. The turbo wont be like ok hold on let me stop boosting now and let my friend Holley catch up. No its going to be like fuck that here you go and your S5 rotors will compress the shit out if that mixture until the diesel and (Detonation) destroys you toy monster. As you step out of your belching car all eyes on you and the smoke you left behind the crowd stare with anticipation "what’s his next move now?" and you cry>
J/k I would be careful with fuel slosh.

i would take the engine off your hands. maybe even a trade for a -se engine if you were interested.

I ran a holley on a streetported 12A and I will never ever ever go that route again in an autox car...EVER!
