Silent Muffler System?
My Exhaust is WAYYY TO LOUD,
I want kind of a silent pur, very silent. I have a racing beat header, straight pipe to 4-inch no-name muffler. thats probably the reason, but what tends to be a quiter exhaust system? but also with great performance? |

My new exhaust system seems to be very quiet.
Full RB system, header, single presilencer, and muffler Its perfect! i'll be posting a video in my thread later |
heres my set up on my se.. rb street header / rb presilencer / rb or a Pacesetter muffler.

Yeah, I was just wondering.
I like the sound of a quiter smooth car, but my car failed a system cause it was TOO Loud, I mean waking up neighbors loud, its actuallly sweet. but the guy ended up passing it, i still think im going to invest in a racing beat pre-silencer and muffler though. |

Throw away the 4 inch fart can and install a large round Magnaflow, the longer the better that has at least a 2 inch pipe going straight through it. This would cost several hundred $$$ less than a RB system. |

I have 2.5" headers (coughhomemadecough) intoa 2.5" cherry bomb into the stock 2"rear section. I did weld on a nice pair of magnaflow rectangular tips onto the stock muffler in place of the steel ones wrapped in stainless that come with it... It's a little louder than stock, but still quite reasonable. Sounds better yet quieter than most, and seems to flow ok... Just gets STUPID hot on the tips...
|
I had the same thing: RB header, 2.25" pipe back to a 4" fart can.
WAAY TO F'IN LOUD. Last weekend they almost booted me from auto-x. Monday night I put in 2 magnaflow mufflers under the car, and it made a world of difference. Still has the same badass sound, but its a lot quieter. For some reason I feel like resonators kill the signature sound, changing the note rather than just quieting it down. Thats why I opted for the magnaflows. I would definately do the exhaust the same again. |
I'll go to get a cherry bomb, and a new magna flow muffler.
cause man my sounds like its running REAL rough, and I mean it is cause its been sitting idle for 2 years, but I'll fix that. Does Canadian Tire// Walmart have Cherry Bombs? I dont like getting car parts from there, they seem really cheap. But I can settle, and theres a shop thats selling MagnaFlow Mufflers on sale, so I'll go grab one from there. |
Canadian Tire probably would. Wal-mart no. Try Part Source. Not familiar with Napa, although from my brief walk-in once, I would think they would...
|
a turbo would chop up the sound quite nicely!!!!
|
After 15 years of rotaries I can say this...a cherry bomb will not do it!
RB makes excellent products and they will last many years. I just purchased a full streetport system for my new daily...due to the sound. They are quiet, and flow considerably well, streetported and and below that is. On my Rx2, I have a homemade long primary system with two BLOWN Magnaflow 4" round mufflers that used to be presilencers...I strees used to. They lasted all of 4 months before the packing was gone. Magnaflow said they would relplace them....but it would be a pain in the ass to send 'em back every few months or so. The rear muffler is a Rotaflo from Oz. It is also an excellent piece...but pricey. But the rear alone won't do it. You NEED presilencers that won't eat shit and RB is the only one. I really suggest RB headers and presilencers...after that is up to you on how loud you want to go. RB "Primaflow" rear for a quiet ride, Magnaflow/Dynomax/FartCan for a louder setup. If the motor is and will always remain stock, use a single RB system...if you want a little more flow or EVER plan to port the motor, get the StreetPort version...you can also just buy the header and center section which would allow you use any rear of your choice. Just do it right the first time and you'll be happy. |
The RB Presilencers are worth their weight in gold. Of all the components in my exhaust system, my mini presilencer makes the greatest difference in exhaust tone and quality. Main mufflers are a question of preference. I like Borlas for their combination of quality, performance and price, but I wouldn't trade the RB silencer in my system for anything.
So whatever you do, look into RB silencers. They're fabulous. |
Yeah I will deffinately check Into that.
So if my engines not street ported, YET. I can still get street parted parts, that would work on my car? |

So if my engines not street ported, YET. I can still get street parted parts, that would work on my car? What I'd do, actually, is get 2nd Gen presilencers. They've got a bigger inside diameter, so they'll flow better while still providing that great noise reduction. :icon_tup: |
Your from Sasketchewan, I'm From Regina.
Is there any part stores near us that have good products? and a 2nd gen pre-silencer would FIT? *confused* thats good to know streetported parts will work also. explain the 2nd-gen presilencer. |
You can get RB products from RX-7 Specialties in Calgary. Their prices are a bit high, but within reason once you calculate exchange and duty.
As for the 2nd Gen stuff, anything will fit when you make custom exhaust. They're structurally the same as the 1st gen units, just built around a bigger internal diameter, that's all. A cost-effective solution would be to buy a second-hand RB header and presilencers (if you can get them 2nd hand) and then go with a Borla for the main muffler. Even buying the RB silencers new is worth it, IMHO. This assumes that you (or a friend who doesn't mind helping you out) is handy with a welder. Otherwise paying for custom exhaust work can become more expensive than just going with the bolt-on RB Streetport exhaust. |
Moses sorry about the flurry of questions, BUTT.
if I plan on streetporting my engine, you think I should get a street port exhaust installed before I sp my engine? and yeah I think I will do that. |
The SP system is fine for stockport engines.
|
Get the sp exhaust now, no sense in buying a 2nd system later. If you're thinking back pressure will be an issue, don't, that applies to piston engines, not rotarys.
|
New StreetPort system just arrived on my doorstep...3 days from Mazdatrix.
|
whoa sick.
