Should I buy it?

1984, GSL, 83k miles, needs tires (tread but 4 years old), needs battery, dirty but can be cleaned up, no rear cardboard and carpet, red paint slighty faded, runs good, been sitting in garage in CT for 3 years, $500.

wwilliam54 12-29-02 11:02 PM

yes

CORY CLAY 12-30-02 12:47 AM

yes buy it i know i would.. i spent 1300 for my 84 gsl and it has 135 xxx miles when i bought it.... so i think it's well worth the 500

Keaponlaffen 12-30-02 12:56 AM

check for storage bin rust for sure...

that's the only other thing I can think of other than what you've mentioned...

oh, and by "runs good" does that mean it starts first try from cold, and you've taken it for a good drive, not just "meh, it idles pretty well"... cause I've seen rotaries that could idle, but couldn't pull their own weight around because an apex, side, or corner seal was gone... well, mine idled with only two of four plug wires hooked up  and the two hooked up were both on the front rotor...

YES YES YES BUY IT NOW!

If it's got no storage bin rust it's worth $500, even if the motor's bad which is unlikely. 84/85 cars are great, the relatively low mileage is great, and it's a GSL with sunroof, limited slip & larger disc brakes.
Check for rust, and buy it.

Purchase the precious :)

No real rust. Maybe some minor surface rust under car. Nothing big. I haven't driven yet but he says it runs good. I'm not going to put $ in his hand until it pulls to a ton and I have a smile on my face. I trust the guy. He works on a submarine with me so he doesn't have reasons to lie to me. I just don't know much about RX-7's so keep the comments coming. I'm glad it's a GSL...wish it was a SE!:D

MIKE-P-28 12-30-02 10:38 AM

Id say yeah, but be prepared for gas tank/fuel line problems. When cars sit, the gas tank condenstaes and starts to rust, well we all know what rust does to the fuel system and filter :(

racermike 12-30-02 10:41 AM

If you stay on the sub., teach someone else how to start and run the car for awhile once or twice a week. They don't like to sit and be ignored. ;)

Cecchini 12-30-02 10:47 AM

Hear that one! I don't know why people let things sit and die! I'll do a fuel system flush and a new filter. I'm going to change ALL the fluids on the car. It also needs a lot of rubber products replaced. Hoses, belts, wipers, etc. Where's good place for OEM parts? Online or just my local dealership?

The dealerships are great if you have money falling out of your butt.

Somebody post a link to Victoria British, I lost mine.

Actually the best thing to do is collect parts cars, LOL.

Cecchini 12-30-02 11:00 AM

Don't have the room for that! I wish! I'll check out Victoria British. Where are they out of?

PS - Sounds like a good deal :).

Yep, I'd definitely get it. 500 is a great deal, esp. for a GSL
