Shocks, Struts and Springs installed
First would like to thank CBz for the great hook up on the parts. I bought these from him a while back and just now had the money and time to have them installed. I got a full set of Tokico Blues and Eibach Pro springs. Here are some pics!
the springs http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2022/...182a2669a8.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2185/...cc3f328914.jpg Since the Eibach springs only drop the car around an 1" all around I chose to cut 1 rung on each to get a more aggressive stance. Plus will look great once I get wheels etc. I am going for the old school stretched, tucked and flushed look. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2237/...4df74e7980.jpg Tokico Blues http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2156/...920f070e2f.jpg front installed http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2091/...01014cb920.jpg LOWERED.... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2274/...24f93f827f.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2266/...0aecfc10c5.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2191/...453030f46a.jpg |

As bought them from a local member...def check around the for sale section, these come up periodically! |
its a fb different struts up front . you got a few options kyb gr-2 and a few otheres. rear end is the same right?
racingbeat.com i think respeed sells some . iam 90% sure 78-80 are the only years the front struts are different. |
I've been looking for a full suspension setup for at least a hundred years. I need struts and springs all around. (SA22C) Or at least part numbers so I can start the warehouse crawl.
Any ideas? |

Koni reds for the front come up on eBay all the time, they are adjustable but have to be removed to adjust them. Excellent quality for the $ usually just over $100.
|
Pardon my ignorance, and lack of searchage; those struts are bolt-on for a SA? or do I need to do the FB suspension conversion?
|
Just be aware that they are different and buy the appropriate dampers
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/78-80...2em118Q2el1247 alternatively if you plan on going higher performance look for a full set of GSL-SE suspension and upgrade it, for the bigger brakes, 4.1 LSD, bigger axles, lug studs, 114.3 x 4 stud pattern and +38 offset. I think we hijacked the thread...appologies AsianImage |
Exact same setup on running on my SE as well.
I have had them for about a year and love the way it rides. It transfers all road imperfections, makes you feel like part of the car... L8R |
Good lookin ride!
|
It looks really good like that, I have RB springs with Tokico blues on my FB. Makes me want to cut the springs.
|
Looks great, I've been thinking of cutting my coils for the improved look. Let us know how it feels after you have driven the car for a while.:icon_tup:

Nice upgrade congrats.
|

|
Glad you like them! Came out great. make sure to take some day shots so we can really see the difference of gap in the wheel well.

Not for the front...only the rear... |
Just saw the car tonight. It looks good! I think you should keep the stock wheels.
|
Thanks all for the kind words. I am happy about how it looks too. I do have to get used to the ride. I do feel everything now. But heck these cars are not made for cushy comfort right?
I will take some pics in the daytime and do some side comparo for your guys. The car being so low does handle much better now. That is an obvious difference right away. You turn the wheel and gun it..and you feel more secure for sure. No wheel hop or sliding or anything. You point it and it goes. Also, since I dont have a front air dam or lip it doesn't rub as much as I thought it would. I can take a pretty steep driveway and its ok. Like I said above...its all for the looks right? If you want comfort, go drive a Camry! |
Looks good. For those of you looking for the Eibach's, they are no longer available for the 1st Gens IIRC. I have them on my FB as well and the ride was nice. Stiffer than stock but didn't bottom out like stock. Mine tucked down nice and neat to around the same height as your's.
