Sharing info: Spirit R colour components

Hi guys.

Since the question "Spirit R colour code" pops up from time to time, I decided to ask the guys at the shop the components of the colour, just to share.

Oxid red
Violet
Blue
Black
Shiny Aluminum
Thick Aluminum

Mazda Code
25g

This might help if someone decides to mix and match to create the colour without the PPG or Autocolor assistance :D

You'll have to do better than that. Formulas list the exact amount in grams if you want to mix a color anywhere near close. Give you a "E" for effort, though. :-)

I'm so poor, my bologna has no first name.

hehehe

They pay a LOT to get the colour formulas from the factory. The gave me the colours and thats it. No way they will give me all the info

Pay alot? If i was able to find out the McLaren SLR color for free (except the fact that they couldn't do it because it a water based color)... i'm pretty sure you can find out almot anything for free.

ZeikHunter 01-30-07 11:41 AM

well hey, shoot me that info. the shop im gonna get mine repained at is water-based, might be kinda cool

you luky americans ... stupid canadian restriction ... they say here because it doesn't "dry" porperly like other paints, they can't do it. But if you ask your local paint suppliers (its best if you find out what your painter uses) then go straight to his source and they should be able to send you the info. Color names and shades vary from place to place, so even if I did give you the info, it might not come out what you really wanted. Or if you can find out the brand and let me know I will look if we carry that same brand somewhere locally and get back at you to let you know. I don't really see why they would hide this info in the states. (if thats what they're really doing) its not like you'll be going home to make it there youd still be buying it from them.

ill find out n get back to you. i wouldnt know where to start finding the info myself (other than google, but where from there, heh)

It's code 25G right? On what year Mazda? I can get the formula next time I go to my supplier if someone really needs it. It'll be for PPG: different brands have slightly different mixing tones so other brands may be a little off using the PPG formula. But... those colors are pretty universal, depending on what color blue is used.

Each year, more children drown in buckets or pails than are accidentally killed with a firearm.
