Seized oil cap?!
I've had a 1st gen sitting for about 4 months now..
I wasnt suprised when I couldnt find anything about this searching.. but my oil cap will not break loose for the life of me.. Ive already tried multiple days, with bruised hands, unsuccessfully... Has anyone had this happen to them? What is a good way to remove a plastic oil cap? haha.. i know it sounds sad :( :sadwavey: |
easy....
1.get a new oil cap 2.get a screwdriver and open a hole at your old cup 3.remove it and throw it away, put the new one on alternative:go to the gym...:) (that's a joke) |
Pipe wrench!

^^^ rubber version
|
pipe wrench and a long cheater bar!
haha should come off in a jiffy. |
I am going to guess that liquid wrench and a pipe wrench would be a bad suggestion?
|
i got it thanks!
I tapped it a few times with a hammer.. then i used a pipe wrench with a rag so it wouldnt wreck my oil cap.. came off in a jiffy!.. but it was rusted inside.. more than it used to be |
The PCV system failed. Since '81-'85 didn't actually have a PCV valve, maybe your purge valve died.
|
purge valve yes.. and that is very possible.. i think its from the car not running for months and months through hot and cold weather, no?
