Seats for an FB, will FC's just bolt in?

as in 2nd gen seats are they the same size and do the bolts in the seats line up?

what if any work is needed to do them?

i have a broken drivers seat and a pair of leather gxl seats for free if i can make them fit :)

this question comes up very often.
yes they do bolt in without any problem.
use the 1st gen rails and it's a straight fit, if using second gen rails you might have to alter one hole a bit.

I'm in the process of swapping in seats from an 86 300zx. The brackets need a little bending, and the seats are a little heavy, but they're wicked grippy, have adjustable wings, and cost me $30 per.

When u say "if you use the first gen rails its a straight fit" do you mean the rails ON the seats or the ones mounted in the car? I'm putting on some nice t2 seats in mine and would love to know. Thanks :)

Hey Mods,

Can we add this to the FAQ?

I second the motion, DF. A quick search got me the threads I referenced above. I bet there are more, maybe even some with pics.

I mean: using FB/SA (= 1st gen) rails and bolt them onto the 2nd gen seats. That should be a perfect fit. (that was what I had in my car before the FD seats)
Anyway is easy, cause 3 out of four bolts of the FC rails will line up with the mounting positions of the FB anyway, the last one is jst slightly offset, and all you have to do is use a file to enlarge it a bit.
I'd suggest using the first gen rails though.

ok

so thats boththe dirver and passenger?

or am i reading the links right that the passengar goes in no problem , and the driver needs to swap the rail out?

MarkPerez 03-09-04 10:53 AM

The 1st gen 'rails' and the 2ed gen 'rails' are the same.
bolt straight up,,no drilling,,nothing. 2ed gen seats are taller,,the 'seat' part then 1st gens. I had 2ed gen seats
and didn't like them. the 1st gen seats makes me sit lower in the car..

Captain Lou 03-09-04 10:58 AM

aha

ah seat height :)

how much higher? its tough enough to wear a helmet in the 1st gen seats as it is :)
