i put in a electric fan and for some reason i keep on blowing fuses. Its a ford taurus fan that i got from the junkyard. I put in a 60 amp fuse and its fine. I just picked up this weekend a fan from a escort but havent put it on yet another fan and it says 30 amp. AM i doing something wrong with hooking up the taurus fan or is the fan just bad... thanks AMPM BOY OUT

Sounds like the fan motor is either not grounded properly or it's just shot. rx7doctor

the taurus, if I remember correctly are 2 speed fan, not single. So try running the low speed. IF not, its incorrectly wired assumming that the motor is in good condition

Are you running this through a relay? The fan draws a lot of current and if you are running wires to a switch on the console and back to the fan they better be 10 or 12 gauge. I bought a car that had been fried by a guy doing electric fans with 14 guage wire. They melted car had small fire(no fuse). DUH!

Yes, make sure you use a relay. Otherwise, even if you use 10 ga wire you will have a tough time finding a switch that can take the heat...
