S4/S5 to s3 trans swap? (searched)
 

just as the title says will a S4/S5 transmission fit in a S3 with minnimal effort?

I don't believe so. The 2nd gen trans is longer that the 1st gen trans. You would likely have to customize the driveshaft.

Don't use S3,S4 or S5 for the search engine and try again...there are a TON of threads on this...;)...Hell, there's even a thread speculating about a Miata Aisin 6 spd transmission swap into an '83 RX-7...:crackup:

The S4 can be swapped by switching the tailshaft housing, the S5 cannot.
