I would certainly buy one of these as soon as I can get rid of my air pump and decide that I don't need to be hauing an A/C compressor I never use.

The only downside that I can see to this is that its not a truly modern serpintine system with a proper tensioner and that it may (through the wider contact area) require one to anchor the alternator tension bolt in a bit better. I really like how Mazda mounted the A/C compressor and wish they did that with the alternator too.

I do have some question as to where the 10-15 HP rating comes from, but thats not the intent of a serpentine conversion kit. Also, I'd want to find out what ratio those pulleys are.

Heh, eventually you either learn that the stock powerband runs up to about 6500-7000 or you make more power at more revs.

Probably from people ditching their A/C and air pump systems.

I'll pass, I kinda like being cool when it gets hot out. I drive to Texas periodically and I don't like sweating.

I personally don't trust brands or products that I hear about first on eBay. It looks like a wannabe Mazda Factory Racing.

In the picture it looks like pretty nice stuff. I have the same question as nevarmore, what are the diameters. It doesn't look like the water pump is underdriven that much, and the alt. looks close to stock dia. It could be the way the serpentine belt rides on the pulley(not as deep). The biggest thing is the water pump speed, thats where you get the HP at the top end when you keep it from cavitating. We made our own pulleys out of stock pieces for the water and alt. The power steering pulley will fit the alt on some of the cars but with a smaller main pulley you won't get 12V out of the alt until about 4000 rpm.

Mazda Racing is run by the guy who had origionally had a shop with robert from rotaryshack. They split up and both have teir respective shops now. This shop has been around since at least 2002 when i ordered my weber from them. They have some good products and I'd believe the kit makes 10-15hp. Which translates to about 5-7 at the wheels. I bought a Rotary Performance underdrive main pulley and it put an additional 3-5 hp across the whole rpm range and an additional 3 peak.

I wouldn't underdrive an alternator in street applications. Less amp output. Not sure I'd want an underdrive water pump pulley either, could get warm @ idle in summer.

i may get one only because i don't have power steering or a/c. would never sacrifice that just for a pulley.

I have those pulleys. I know the guy that makes them. I refuse to use them until I find a different sized main pulley that will accept that type of belt. The crank pulley is smaller than the water pump pulley. They are spinning the water pump VERY slow. It's definitely intended as high rpm race use only. The water pump pulley only fits the 2nd gen water pumps. They are different than the early ones and have a different offset. If you plan on using these with a 1st gen engine, plan on replacing the water pump also. They are nicely machined though.
