RX-7 in car museum

Over Christmas vacation with Florida relatives I went to the Sarasota Car Museum and saw a Jags,a DeLorean, old model A and T s, and Austin-Healeys and Mini Coopers and Mini Morrises ( a mini mini cooper that Paul McCartney owned) and many other nice collectible cars. While talking to a car owner/museum guide who had his Austin on loan, I found out that the museum had just obtained an FB. I saw it outside waiting to be restored. It was a golden '83 GSL. The interior color was a rust colored brown (not the brown in the tan and other colored rexes and the seats had leather trim on the side of the front of the upright back but cloth in the middle sort of half leather and half cloth. It was a one owner and had 83,000 mi. and was donated. The rex was in good condition. What a great thrill to see the museum recognize the FB! I had not seen this exterior color or interior color or combination material seats.

Hope it is properly restored as a working model. I have been to too many museums where what you see is just cosmetic. Part of the you of an RX-7 is to hear the rotary in full flight.

Its interesting news, its the best fate for a one owner car rather than off to the wreckers after years of faithful service.

Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me. Here is their website http://www.sarasotacarmuseum.org/about.html but not many pictures are available. If you are ever in that area- lots of Ohioans (?) are- definitely visit it. It is accross the street from the Ringling (as in circus Brothers) Mansion, Museum, etc. Ohio is OK (or do they say that about Oklahoma) I came up to Columbus from Charlotte 2 yrs. ago to buy my 85 SE. Wow the traffic on Interstate 95 going south to Fl. this past Sat. was unbelieveable in GA and SC as we saw an 80, yes eighty mile parking lot back up of traffic going no where. I 26 from Columbia SC was backed up 15 miles gettting to I 95!

It was a working model with new hoses, belts, etc. The guide said that all of the cars had their fluids in them. Many probably do not get driven much though. I only saw one shell car a Don "Big Daddy" Garlitts (sp.?) dragster.
