rust under storage boxes

I bought a virtually rust free 83 GSL, or so I thought, I pulled up the carpet in the back when I was cleaning it and under the rear storage bins and the drivers side revealed rust. It is the only part on the car, even the undercarriage that has rust. How do I go about fixing this, it's not a panel that can just be replaced. I feel that I may have to cut it out and have it remanufactured, would this even be worth my time and money?

Any imput would be appreciated, thanks:confused:

Check out this website.

They make several interesting products. The rust stoping/preventative paint POR-15 is their major product.
I've talked to many people who recommend it highly. I've just started using it so my long term experiance is nil. It drys amazingly hard and cannot be removed by anything short of a wire brush wheel and a drill.

It's a standard problem with 1st gens. I had to do both sides on mine, well up on to the fender well. Basically had to have it cut out and welded new metal into it. It's now probably stronger than it was new. As far as whether it's worth it or not, that's up to you.

i would recommend the por-15 treatment too aslong as the metal isnt "holy" just follow the directions and make sure its really nice and clean after you grind the rust out.

Thanks guys.... if there's any other ideas, just keep em coming.... I haven't taken that good of look, I saw the rust there, but if it's holy then cut it out right?
