Rust, can this be fixed?
 

Well, besides know that I'm going to have to replace the rear wheel wells and storage compartments with new metal I've been tooling around the engine compartment and found some more rust which could make things quite bad.

The first spot is directly above the mounting point for the steering linkage on the passenger side frame. Big rust hole there. Thinking one good slalom at an autocross and that area could give?

Second spot that I just discovered today is the driver's side strut tower has peeled away from the wheel well metal at the bottom and has about an inch of space between it and the rest of the body at the bottom from where it has peeled away. Again, maybe the same problem as above, could that area ever just give and that side of the car collapse?

Are these two areas fixable/worth fixing or should I be looking for a better body to drop my stuff into?

sounds like time to get a new body to drop all yer stuff into.... :(

Ouch man. That sounds rough. I personally would be looking for a new body for that baby...

Yeha man :( You gotta remember the rust that you can physically see easily, is always 10x's as bad :( It sucks trust me, I got an 80 here that is way gone to the rust gods

i 33rd that. you're looking at a pain in the ass fix that will be misaligned and you probably couldn't stop it from continuing to rust.

Yup, that's what I figured. Getting a newer, better body would be easier and most likely safer than trying to fix the one I have.

Anybody got a good body laying around??
