ok my rx7 has a bad water seal, and thats all that is wrong... i am saving up for a rebuild, but what i want to know is if the car can still be driven without damaging anything else in the car? i think it does, but some enlightenment would help, thanks.

k man here goes, my 1st gen has been running with a bad water seal since december of last year when i tracked it and the car still starts perfectly and after it warms up it does not smoke anymore, i suggest to just keep the oil at a good level, maybe a little high and keep it lubricated so the housings dont suffer, i still have not taken my engine apart, but i think it should not be so bad, if its not so bad use alumaseal

Only risk is developing corrosion on the housing where the seal's supposed to seat. Too much decay there, and you can't ever get a good seal again without lapping.

Main thing is to make sure you keep using antifreeze, for it's anti-corrosion benefit. Your irons will rust like crazy if you run pure water or too little AF.

thanks, this helps out so much... man im glad i was using antifreeze

Also throw a bottle of Alumaseal in your radiator. It repairs leaks.

Ive used it on my car that used to smoke like crazy and now it never does.

Doesn't hurt, only like $2.50 or so at AutoZone.
