t some point I will shoot a pic and load it up. its just the basic drip rail one that all cars in the 80's use.

Can you get pics of your car with a bike loaded? How bad does it interfere with hatch usage?

you can get in to the hatch but you cannot open it all the way, like half way open is about it. the bigist thing for me was you cant take the roof out with a stock roof panel, I had two panels and I adjusted one so I could remove it with the rack on, but I dont think most would do what I did, as now I cant pop it up and drive with it on , its either off or on, but like I said I have two so no big deal for me.

I swear I will take some pics for you guys with the bike on, I am just really E-lazy.

I remember seeing one in our shed when I was young. It was wooden with black suction cups. I don't usually like wooden things on cars, but that would be cool.

A somewhat related story. I went to a coworkers house for beers, I noticed a red fuji bike in his garage. It was a folding mountain bike that he got with Marlboro points. He said you want it? I said sure, it folded in half and fit perfectly in the back of the 7.

I have a Thule Roof Rack for my '84. I can raise the sunroof, but not remove it with the rack mounted. It works much better if you mount the bike tray on the rails so that the rear wheel of the bike is over the windshield. That way you can open the rear hatch completely without risk of damaging it against the rack. I will try to take a photo this weekend. I have been using the rack like this since 1985, about a year after I bought the car. Although it shows a different rack, I have attached a photo of my Cayman with the rack and bike attached, which solves the same problem with opening the hatch.

I fabbed that up for Blake to take to the grassroots challenge. He helped a bit. Made him paint it.

Even has rear fuel tank and I added a aux fuel pump and y fuel fittings so he could chance pumps/tracks on the fly.

Ah yes, Blake mentioned dry-break fittings and that he welded some or most of this, which improved his welding skills during the process. I met him in real life and showed him some of my cool projects. He had his 7 with parts of the rear bumper cover made removable for adding a trailer receiver hitch. Seemed like a cool idea.
